Academy Update: U13s and U14s travel to North Carolina for Fall Showcase

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy continued its fall season this weekend as two teams returned to action from Oct. 26-29. The Under-14 and Under-13 teams traveled to Advance, N.C. to take part in the Fall Showcase at BB&T Sports Park along with various clubs from the East Coast. The scheduled games for the U-19s, U-17s, and U-15s in the local area were cancelled due to Saturday’s inclement weather conditions.


Three Academy teams will be back in action this upcoming weekend as the U-15s, U-14s, and U-13s will travel to Uniondale, N.Y. to face the Academy teams of the New York Cosmos.


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Forward Benaiah Hanson (Loudon, N.H.—2006) recorded his Academy-leading ninth goal and tallied his third assist of the season in the U-13s’ 4-0 win over D.C. United on Saturday, Oct. 27 in Advance, N.C. Hanson also tallied an assist in a 1-1 draw with the Players Development Academy on Friday, Oct. 26. 
  • Goalkeepers Michael Delaney (Halifax, Mass.—2006) and Sebastian Wraga (Springfield, Mass.—2006) combined efforts to record a shutout in the U-13s’ 4-0 win over D.C. United on Saturday, Oct. 27. Saturday’s win marks the pair’s fourth collective shutout in five games.
  • Forward Dave Doirain (Marlborough, Mass—2005) netted his second goal of the fall campaign in the U-14s’ 1-0 win over Charlotte Soccer Academy on Monday, Oct. 29. The forward has split time between the U-15 and U-14 sides this season.
  • Forward Malik Akin (West Rutland, V.T.—2006) scored a goal and recorded an assist in the U-13s’ 4-0 win over D.C. United on Saturday, Oct. 27 at BB&T Sports Park. The goal was Akin’s fourth strike of the season.
  • Midfielders Tyler Duarte (Brockton, Mass—2005) and Noel Buck (Arlington, Mass.—2005) provided the U-14s’ two goals in a 2-2 draw with Baltimore Armour on Sunday, Oct. 28. The strikes were both Duarte and Buck’s first goals of the season.
  • Forward Olger Escobar (Lynn, Mass.—2006) scored his third goal of the season in the U-13s’ matchup with D.C. United on Saturday, Oct. 27 in Advance, N.C. Midfielder Ryan Viana (Framingham, Mass.—2006) provided his third assist of the season on Escobar’s strike.
