NEW YORK AND MEXICO CITY (Nov. 8, 2026) – By finishing third in the MLS Eastern Conference during the 2026 MLS regular season, the New England Revolution are confirmed as one of 18 MLS clubs qualified for Leagues Cup 2027, the fifth edition of the cross-border tournament set to take place from August 3 through September 5, 2027.
The annual Concacaf-sanctioned competition features 18 qualifying MLS clubs and all 18 LIGA MX clubs, with the top three finishers securing berths in the 2028 Concacaf Champions Cup. The MLS clubs earned their places based on their final standings in the 2026 regular season, with the top nine teams from each conference securing qualification.
With the Leagues Cup berth solidified, New England is now set to compete for several trophies in 2027, with five different competitions on the slate during the calendar year: the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, Concacaf Champions Cup, Leagues Cup, Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, and finally, the 2027-28 MLS regular season. The winner of MLS Cup 2026 will also compete in the Campeones Cup, a single-match duel between the MLS champion and the Liga MX's Campeón de Campeones.Â
The Revolution are one of five MLS teams included in the Leagues Cup 2027 field after missing the 2026 edition, along with Houston Dynamo FC, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders FC, and St. Louis CITY SC. New England last participated in 2024, advancing to the Round of 32 before falling in a penalty shootout to New York City FC. Next year's field also features former Leagues Cup champions Inter Miami CF (2023) and Columbus Crew (2024), who will look to reclaim the title from reigning champion Toluca FC.
