New England Revolution Academy Highlights: September 20, 2022

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – All four Academy teams returned to action last weekend with the U-14s and U-19s in Providence, R.I. meeting Bayside FC, while the U-15s and U-17s traveled north of the border to take on CF Montreal.

The U-19s dominated their first match of the 2022 MLS NEXT season, winning 4-1 as Jason Zacarias (2004 – Billerica, Mass.) evened the game at one in the 20th minute while Bryce Flowers (2005 – Sharon, Mass.), recorded the game-winner as Marco Dos Santos (2005 - Methuen, Mass.) recorded a brace to round out the scoring. The U-14s also saw success in Providence, winning their match against Bayside FC, 3-1. Judah Siqueira (2009 – South Easton, Mass.) scored twice as Tyler Bergquist (2009 – Colchester, Conn.) notched the game-winner in the 62nd minute.

Goalkeeper Ryan Carney (2006 – Dunstable, Mass.) and the U-17s posted a clean sheet in Montreal as Peyton Miller (2007 – Unionville, Conn.), Aidan Reilly (2007 – Pembroke, Mass.), and Olger Escobar (2006 – Lynn, Mass.) each scored to solidify the team’s second win of the season. The U-15s fell in their match against CF Montreal, 4-1, with Anthony Anduray (2008 – Merrimack, N.H.) scoring New England’s lone goal in the 15th minute.

All four Academy teams are in action this weekend as the U-14s host NEFC, the U-15s and U-17s welcome CF Montreal to Foxborough, and the U-19s host Intercontinental FA on Saturday.   • Three Academy graduates earned national team call-ups this week with Colby Quiñones (2003 – Bedford, N.H.) joining the Puerto Rico National Team while Esmir Bajraktarevic (2005 – Appleton, Wisc.) and Jack Panayotou (2004 – Cambridge, Mass.) join the U-19 U.S. Men’s National Team in Slovenia.
