Academy Highlights | Revolution Academy U-15s secure spot in 2022 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs

All four New England Revolution Academy teams were in action last weekend with the U-15s, U-17s, and U-19s all competing in the MLS NEXT Flex tournament in Boyds, Maryland while the U-14s took on Seacoast United back in Foxborough. 

The U-15s cruised through their group in the MLS NEXT Flex postseason tournament, recording two wins and a tie. Their wins both came via clean sheets over RSL Arizona and Miami Kendall Rush SC by scores of 3-0 and 4-0, respectively. The U-15s took Houston Dynamo to a 1-1 tie, before winning the penalty shootout with the 13th shooter of the match. The U-15s have now earned a guaranteed spot in the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs taking place in Frisco, Texas at the Toyota Soccer Center from June 25 to July 3.

The U-19s went 2-1-0 in the tournament, delivering a 1-0 shutout to Shattuck-St. Mary’s and notching a 3-1 win over Real JFC. Jason Zacarias (2004 – Billerica, Mass.), Jack Panayotou (2004 – Cambridge, Mass.), Marcos Ojea Quintana (2004 – Riverside, Conn.), and Triton Beauvois (2003 – Malden, Mass.) all scored in the tournament. The U-17s went 1-1-1 in their competition, beating FC Cincinnati 2-1 and tying 2-2 with Tampa Bay United.

The U-14s routed Seacoast United by a score of 9-1 on Saturday with Luka Hislop (2007 – Concord, Mass.) recording a hat trick and Mesud Ramic (2008 – Weare, N.H.) notching two goals in the match.

  • U-19 goalkeeper Max Weinstein (2004 – Montpelier, V.T.) recorded a clean sheet in the team’s 1-0 win over Shattuck-St. Mary’s.
  • U-17 defender Steban Betancur (2005 – Revere, Mass.) scored twice in tournament, including the game-winner over FC Cincinnati.
  • U-15 forward Peyton Miller (2007 – Unionville, Conn.) lead his team to a 3-0 victory over RSL Arizona with a hat trick while notching the second goal of their match vs. Miami Kendall Rush SC.
  • U-15 goalkeepers Marshall Nason Martin (2007 – Norwood, Mass.) and Max Dressel (2007 – Marblehead, Mass.) each recorded clean sheets in their team’s matches vs. RSL Arizona and Miami Kendall Rush SC.
  • U-15 forward Tito Nichols (2007 – Milton, Mass.) scored twice in his team’s 4-0 victory over Miami Kendall Rush SC.
  • U-14 forward Luka Hislop (2007 – Concord, Mass.) recorded a hat trick vs. Seacoast United, bringing him to 13 goals on the season, tying with forward Mesud Ramic (2008 – Weare, N.H.) for the team lead, who also scored twice in the match.
