New England Revolution launches Remote Training Team

Revolution Training Team

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – As families and educators nationwide continue to face the unique challenges of remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, the New England Revolution have launched the Revolution Remote Training Team to provide an engaging, free library of virtual soccer demonstrations and educational resources promoting healthy habits and safe, stay-at-home skill development.

Spearheaded by the Revolution Academy staff, the Revolution Remote Training Team offers members free access to an expanding collection of educational soccer videos centered on the development of basic skills including ball mastery, passing and receiving, goalkeeping technique, and finishing. The comprehensive catalogue combines detailed instruction from the Revolution Academy’s experienced coaching staff with demonstrations by Major League Soccer players, all designed to encourage young players to incorporate regular skill training and physical activity into their daily routines.

“As we listened to parents, coaches, and young athletes across New England who had their routines disrupted and youth soccer seasons canceled due to the pandemic, we recognized the importance of building a remote-learning platform that helps children stay connected to the beautiful game while remaining physically active, even while confined to their homes,” Revolution Academy Director Deven Apajee said. “We are excited to provide these resources that will help instill healthy habits in young athletes while furthering their soccer development, and we look forward to growing the Remote Training Team even more in the future.”

The Revolution Remote Training Team is free to join by registering here. Members will receive a unique password upon registration that grants access to the entire library of content, which will continue to grow throughout the year with the addition of further active education resources. Throughout the winter, the club is adding new content focused on small-space drills and indoor activities including yoga, stretching, and more. Members of the Remote Training Team are encouraged to share their experiences and replicate the skill videos on social media using the hashtag #NERevsRemote.

The Revolution Remote Training Team is an evolution of the club’s previous UnitedHealthcare Home with the Pros campaign, launched in March 2020 to help young athletes remain active and engaged with the sport while practicing safe social distancing. Now accessible from the Remote Training Team library, Home with the Pros featured videos with Revolution players and Academy coaches demonstrating individual, small-space exercises designed to be practiced from home.
