Three Revolution II players named to USL League One All-League Teams

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution II midfielder and Homegrown Player Nicolas Firmino, defender Collin Verfurth, and midfielder Maciel were all named to the 2020 USL League One All-League Second Team, the league announced on Wednesday.


Firmino, 19, made his professional debut for Revolution II this season, appearing in all 16 matches with 15 starts. The midfielder was tied for the team lead in goals (4), assists (2), while ranking ninth in USL League One with 22 chances created. Firmino wore the captain’s armband for one game on Sept. 16 and was selected to the USL League One Team of the Week on three occasions.


Verfurth, 24, captained New England throughout the 2020 season, appearing in 15 of the club’s 16 matches with his lone absence due to injury. The defender, who became the first member of Revolution II to sign a contract with the first team, led USL League One in defensive clearances with 73 while logging 1,312 minutes this season.


Maciel, 20, signed with New England from his native Brazil’s Botafogo F.R. Academy in January and was the only member of the squad to start all 16 matches. Maciel led the team logging a team-high 1,414 minutes this season. Defensively, Maciel won 67 percent of his tackles and ended the year with 33 interceptions.


The finalists for the 2020 USL League One Awards will be announced on Thursday, November 5 and the winners will be announced the week of November 9.
