Revolution II enter Sunday's match with a chance to clinch a spot in the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs, with a win or draw securing an automatic postseason berth. A postseason appearance would mark the club's third all-time playoff run and second consecutive qualification after advancing to the first round of the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs.
Sunday’s regular-season finale gives New England another chance to extend its campaign against a familiar Eastern Conference opponent. Revolution II have faced Toronto FC II twice this season, beginning with a scoreless draw in March before claiming the extra point in a 7-6 shootout victory. New England later earned a 3-1 win at York Lions Stadium in June. In the all-time series, Revolution II are unbeaten on the road against Toronto FC II at York Lions Stadium (3-0-4). However, the Reds are currently in strong home form and carry a five-match home unbeaten streak into Sunday, with their most recent home loss coming against New England in June.
Most recently, New England played to a 1-1 result at Columbus Crew 2 last Sunday, securing two road points with a 5-3 win in the ensuing penalty shootout. Defender Jared Smith scored Revolution II’s lone goal, marking his second tally of the season. The Longmeadow, Mass. product had a strong outing on Sunday, posting a career-high three shots while adding three key passes. Homegrown midfielder Cristiano Oliveira supplied the assist on Smith’s goal at Columbus. Fellow Academy graduate Javaun Mussenden has also been a steady contributor in the midfield, starting 20 of his 21 appearances and totaling five goal contributions this season (1G, 4A).
New England’s attack features two dangerous goal-scoring threats in Marcos Zambrano and Myles Morgan. Zambrano has made an immediate impact on the offensive end, tallying three goals in as many appearances with Revolution II. Meanwhile, Morgan continues to lead the attack with 13 goals, tied for the third most in MLS NEXT Pro, while also ranking fourth in shots (87) and fifth in shots on target (34). After setting a club record with a five-game scoring streak earlier this season, Morgan can reach another milestone on Sunday, as he is one goal shy of setting a new club record for goals scored in a single season.
On the defensive end, Revolution II have been among the league's toughest teams to break down, allowing just 100 shots on target this season, the fewest among MLS NEXT Pro. Goalkeeper Donovan Parisian delivered a standout performance at Columbus Crew 2 on Sunday, recording a career-high five saves on six shots faced. In front of him, center backs Gabe Dahlin and Jake Shannon each played the full 90 minutes, with Dahlin reaching 50 career league appearances and Shannon increasing his team-leading clearance total to 37, the ninth-highest total leaguewide.
