Revolution Academy Update: October 24, 2018

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy continued its fall season this weekend as four teams returned to action on Saturday, Oct. 20. All four teams hosted Cedar Stars-Bergen, of New Jersey, at Gillette Stadium.


All five Academy teams will be back in action this upcoming weekend as the U-19s will travel to Portland, Conn. to face Oakwood Soccer Club on Saturday, Oct. 27, while the U-17s and U-15s will host New York Soccer Club at Medway High School in Medway, Mass. on Saturday. Meanwhile, the U-14s and U-13s will travel to Advance, N.C. to face various teams from the East Coast next weekend at BB&T Sports Park. 


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Forward Benaiah Hanson (Loudon, N.H.—2006) recorded his Academy-leading eighth goal of the season and tallied an assist in the U-13s’ 2-0 win over Cedar Stars on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Gillette Stadium. Hanson’s eight strikes have come in six total appearances this season.
  • Forward Michael Tsicoulias (Newton, Mass.—2002) tallied a pair of assists in the U-17s’ 3-1 win over Cedar Stars on Saturday, Oct. 20 at Gillette Stadium. Tsicoulias is in his third season with the Revs Academy.
  • Midfielder Hayes Benzan (Mattapan, Mass.—2006) scored a goal and recorded an assist in the U-13s’ 2-0 home win over Cedar Stars on Saturday, Oct. 20. The goal was Benzan’s second strike of the season while the assist was his third of the 2018 campaign.
  • Forward Dave Doirain (Marlborough, Mass.—2005) scored his first goal of the season in the U-14s’ matchup with Cedar Stars on Saturday, Oct. 20 in Foxborough. Doirain has recorded six total appearances between the U-14s and U-15s this season.
  • Goalkeepers Michael Delaney (Halifax, Mass.—2006) and Sebastian Wraga (Springfield, Mass.—2006) combined efforts to record a shutout in the U-13s’ 2-0 home win over Cedar Stars on Saturday, Oct. 20. Saturday’s win marks the pair’s third collective shutout in as many games.
  • Forward Chase Lando (Littleton, Mass.—2004) scored his first goal of the season and opened the scoring in the U-15s’ 1-1 draw with Cedar Stars on Saturday, Oct. 20 in Foxborough. Lando has made nine appearances in his first year with the Revolution Academy.
