Academy Update: Youth teams split a trio of matches with Cedar Stars

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy’s Under-15, Under-14, and Under-13s were back in action this past weekend with each age group playing road matches at Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen. All five matches were played at Ridgefield Sports Complex in Ridgefield Park, N.J. on Saturday, April 28.


All five Academy teams will hold a pair of matches this weekend. The U-19s, U-17s, and U-15s are set to take on Continental FC DELCO at East Providence High School in East Providence, R.I. on Saturday, May 5, followed by the Philadelphia Union at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, May 6. The U-14s and U-13s will open the weekend by hosting the New York Cosmos on Saturday, followed by Seacoast United on Sunday, with both matches set to take place at Assumption College Stadium in Worcester, Mass.


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Academy’s new feature video, “Inside the Academy: Shaping the future of the New England Revolution” is live on RevolutionSoccer.net and YouTube. The video explores the day-to-day behind the scenes of the Academy and features perspective from the Revolution’s front office, Homegrown Players, and current Revolution Academy players.
  • Forward Andrew Serafino '03 (East Longmeadow, Mass.) recorded his Revolution Academy leading 17th goal in the U-15s’ 1-1 draw with Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen.
  • Forward Michael Hofstetter '04 (Providence, R.I.), and midfielder James Torres ’04 (Pawtucket, R.I.) scored, while goalkeeper Matthew Tibbetts ’04 (Westborough, Mass.) posted a shutout in the U-14s’ 2-0 victory over Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen.
  • Forward Noel Buck'05 (Arlington, Mass.) and midfielder Oscar Martinez ’05 (Revere, Mass.) combined for the U-13s’ lone goal in their 3-1 loss to Cedar Stars Academy – Bergen.
  • Goalkeeper Eliot Jones '03 (New Britain, Conn.) is currently with the U.S. U-16 National Team on his fifth youth national team call-up for the Torneo delle Nazioni in Gradisca d’Isonzo, Italy. The U.S. claimed third place with a 2-1 victory over Japan in the final match of the tournament.
