adidas previewing new adiPower Predator on Saturday

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – On Saturday, May 28, fans will get the unique opportunity to see the brand new, not-yet-released adidas adiPower Predator soccer cleat at Gillette Stadium. adidas will display the newly-redesigned cleat in the Patriot Place Plaza at Gillette Stadium from 6 to 8 p.m. this Saturday, before the New England Revolution host the LA Galaxy.

Saturday’s special showing will mark the first time that the shoe, which will go on sale in the U.S. on Friday, June 10, will be on display for fans. Select MLS adidas players such as the Revolution’s Shalrie Joseph, debuted the adiPower Predator in competition last weekend.

“Wearing the new adiPower Predator cleat, I can really put texture and swerve on the ball,” said Joseph. "The cushion is great for my first touch and I feel like I have a more powerful shot.”

Fans at Saturday’s game will have the opportunity to win a pair of the new Predators in the Speed Kick Challenge, which will be set up near the display. WeGotSoccer, the Revolution’s soccer specialty store partner, will be on hand taking orders for the cleat. The Sharp Blue/Electricity/Black leather soccer cleat, worn by Joseph, will retail for $200.

In addition to Saturday’s preview on the Patriot Place Plaza, WeGotSoccer will hold a preview party on Sunday, May 29, at their Foxborough (99 Washington St./Route 1, Foxborough, Mass.) headquarters. Beginning at 10 a.m., Revs stars and adidas athletes Darrius Barnes (10 a.m. – 12 p.m.), Kevin Alston (12 – 2 p.m.), Marko Perovic (2 – 4 p.m.) and Joseph (4 – 6 p.m.) will be available for meet and greets with fans who have ticket stubs from Saturday’s match against LA.

The adiPower Predator features the Predator Element, a re-engineered technology which enables perfect ball handling. Featured on the medial side of the cleat, the Predator Element is an injected silicon-rubber component welded onto the base material that features two specific zones: one zone increases spin and power when striking the ball while another zone increases contact time with the ball to ensure perfect ball control in all weather conditions.

The adiPower Predator integrates the revolutionary Sprint Frame outsole construction featured in the adiZero F50, which reduces the weight of the cleat by 25 percent to 8.2 ounces. The addition of the Sprint Frame creates stability through geometry, reducing the number of material layers and the overall cleat weight.

As with past Predator versions, the new adiPower Predator features Powerspine technology, which minimizes energy loss during a shot through a reduction of the kicking flex in the forefoot area, resulting in a more powerful shot. The flex grooves of the Powerspine also provide a comfortable running movement by keeping the element highly flexible in the right direction.

Additional key benefits of the adiPower Predator include an Alcantara leather-like soft and comfortable heel lining, Taurus leather for optimum fit, comfort and touch, Traxion outsole configuration for optimum grip and stud pressure distribution.
