CHICAGO - It was a big win on Sunday night in Chicago for the New England Revolution, who closed out a four-game road stretch with nine points. The Revs beat longtime foe Chicago Fire FC 2-1 in the Windy City, and sit third in the Eastern Conference standings after pushing the Fire down to fifth.
Dor Turgeman led the way for New England with a goal-and-assist performance, opening the scoring for the Revs in the 39th minute. Jackson Yueill sparked the play from the top of the Revolution’s penalty area, sending a ball into midfield for Turgeman, who turned on the jets, beat his defender and finished the breakaway.
Yueill made his third start of the season in place of the injured Alhassan Yusuf and recorded his second assist of the year on the play. Turgeman’s finish brought his season total to seven goals, including three in his last five games.
“We spoke about how much they like to push their wingbacks high, and we thought we’d have Dor isolated in certain moments to counter their counter a little bit. So, that was a tactical thing we were looking at,” explained Yueill, who later added his third assist of the season. “Credit to him for making the run, having the pace, and the ability to finish.”
Just eight minutes later – but after the halftime break – Turgeman teed up Peyton Miller, who logged his fifth goal of the season. It was Miller’s 50th MLS start, making him just the fourth player in MLS history to accomplish the feat before turning 19. Miller has made a huge impact for the Revs this season, with nine total goal contributions.
The Revolution carried a 2-0 lead at Soldier Field before conceding in the 62nd minute. Even as Chicago pushed to cut the deficit, the Revs stayed composed under pressure, thwarting 21 shots and limiting the impact of legendary striker Robert Lewandowski. Despite being outshot 21-4, New England’s defensive discipline – anchored by center backs Mamadou Fofana and Ethan Kohler – held firm when it mattered most, helping the Revolution secure their 13th win of 2026.
“I strongly believe that center backs are actually a reflection of the team. When they are composed on the ball, the team will be composed on the ball. When they are relentless defending, the team will be relentless defending. When they are aggressive, the team will be aggressive. I think that Mamadou and Ethan are actually a mirror of this team,” head coach Marko Mitrović said following the victory against his former club, where he spent four seasons as an assistant coach. “Going to Columbus, going to LA, going to New York, and going to Chicago, there was big fatigue presented with the players. I’m just impressed with the way they recovered, the way they pushed, and their mentality.”
The Revolution will return to Gillette Stadium next Saturday night to face Orlando City SC at 7:30 p.m. ET. It will be the squad’s first time back in front of the home crowd since August 23.
“This stretch is really important for us and something we spoke on as a team. We wanted to get points, see what we can do, show what kind of soccer that we can play,” said Yueill. “I think we’ve shown that as a group and we were rewarded for putting on a really brave and strong effort out there. We get to go back home next weekend and do it all again in front of our fans. I think it’s a really good moment for the group, but another game next week.”
