FOXBOROUGH, Mass. & NEW YORK CITY (September 21, 2026) – New England Revolution defender/winger Peyton Miller was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Matchday for Matchday 27 of the 2026 MLS season.
Miller produced his first career multi-goal game and scored the game-winning goal in New England’s 4-2 home victory over Orlando City SC (Watch Highlights From His Performance Here). The Unionville, Conn. native has already set single-season career highs in goals (7), assists (4), goal contributions (11), and game-winning goals (3). Miller joins Julian Hall and Cavan Sullivan as one of three teenagers this season to record at least seven goals and four assists. He is one of just 11 players in league history to do so. In regular season matches that Miller has started this season, New England is 10-4-4 and averaging 1.89 points per game. New England is also a perfect 6-0-0 when the 18-year-old scores this season.
With New England leading 1-0 in the second half, Miller used his speed to break free on the counterattack and slot home his finish past the Orlando City goalkeeper (Watch Here). After Orlando City scored two goals to tie the game, Miller stepped up again in second-half stoppage time to grab all three points. Revolution forward Diego Fagundez found Miller darting through the defense and the 18-year-old curled left-footed effort that nestled into the corner of the net for the game-winning goal (Watch Here).
Miller is the second Revolution player to earn MLS Player of the Matchday honors in 2026, joining Alhassan Yusuf (Matchday 21). With 23.07% of the overall vote, the Homegrown star edged out teammate Carles Gil for the recognition, as the captain finished second in this week's voting with 18.42% following his own two-goal performance in the home win. Miller is the second-consecutive teenager to be named MLS Player of the Matchday after Cavan Sullivan won for Matchday 26. Two of the top performers in MLS of late, Miller and Sullivan both earned their first U.S. Senior National Team call-up last week and will join the Stars and Stripes for a series of four friendly matches from September 26 through October 6, alongside Revolution midfielder Brooklyn Raines.
The Revolution, currently second in the Eastern Conference after three straight wins, are back on the road this weekend to visit Western Conference opponent Real Salt Lake on Saturday night. Saturday's match in Utah kicks off at 9:30 p.m. ET at America First Field and airs on Apple TV in English and Spanish. The MLS Player of the Matchday is selected each matchday of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while an Instagram fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio, and online media.
