EA SPORTS FIFA 20 Simulation | Gil leads the way as Revs’ unbeaten run hits five

FIFA 20 Simulation | Goal celebration vs. Montreal Impact

FAKESBOROUGH, Mass. – A five-goal outburst helped the New England Revolution extend their virtual unbeaten run to five games on Saturday afternoon at Gillette Stadium, where the Revs held off the visiting Montreal Impact in a crazy 5-3 win, as simulated by EA SPORTS FIFA 20.

All five goals were once again scored by the Revolution’s DP trio of Adam Buksa (2), Gustavo Bou (2), and Carles Gil, who’ve now combined to bag 18 of New England’s 24 simulated goals.

“Having three players capable of scoring at a moment’s notice makes it impossible for teams to contain them. If they key on one, they leave the other two open,” head coach Bruce Arena is probably thinking. “It’s like that Whac-A-Mole game at the arcade. You think you get one, then another one pops up. Our DPs are like the moles, but instead they’re just really good at soccer.”

Buksa scored two goals for the third straight game – a pair of carbon-copy strikes with his right foot – and Bou added a pair, as well, but it was again Gil’s goal that stole the show as the 27-year-old Spaniard drilled a rocket into the far upper corner from the top of the box.

Gil also assisted three other goals, including a slide rule pass to spring Bou for the opener.

“He’s got an absolutely lethal left foot,” Buksa likely would’ve said of Gil. “It’s cool that the EA programmers made Carles left footed in the game, since he’s left footed in real life. On a somewhat related note, I’m also left footed, just in case anyone at EA wants that information.”

Saturday’s offensive outburst was necessary as the Revs conceded a trio of goals to the Impact, who had pulled within 4-3 in the 86th minute before Bou’s dagger just two minutes later. The Revs have now conceded 11 goals in the last five games, while still managing to go 4-0-1 in that stretch.

“We’re just trying to keep things interesting,” veteran center back Andrew Farrell didn’t say. “We’re going to score four or five every game, and winning 4-0 or 5-0 every Saturday would be kind of boring for the fans, right? We’re keeping people on their toes.”

New England will look to extend their virtual unbeaten run to six games on Wednesday night when they head north of the border for a visit to defending Eastern Conference champions Toronto FC.

“Midweek road games can be tough, but luckily our virtual selves won’t know we just played a few days ago,” said the Revs’ entire roster. “Kick back on the couch and watch us on Wednesday night, and then just keep staying on the couch so we can keep each other safe.”
