U-13 to U-19 MLS Development Academy Teams

There are several ways in which a player can be identified by the Academy Coaching Staff for the fully-funded U-13-U-19 Academy teams.

  • Talent Identification Centers
  • U-12 Alliance Clubs
  • Scouting Identification
  • Elite Training Programs
  • Open Tryouts

Talent Identification Center

The Talent Identification Center is a free, invitation-only player identification session, or series of sessions, that allows players in the region to be identified by the Academy Coaching Staff. Selected players will be sent a detailed invitation by the Head of Scouting, Jasir Charris, prior to each session. Sessions are 90-120 minutes long for players that have been identified by the Academy Scouts, RDS Technical staff or recommended by a coach.  There are locations across the region for players in the 2002-2008 birth years. Players interested in being recommended for the Talent Identification Centers should complete the Player Application form online.

U-12 Alliance Clubs

The U-12 Alliance provides high-level, age-appropriate player development for the region’s top youth players and a defined pathway into the New England Revolution Academy structure. Bayside FC, NEFC, and Valeo FC all have U-12 Development Academy teams that provide a professional entry into training and game day environments, allowing players access to New England Revolution player development opportunities.

Scouting Identification

The New England Revolution Academy Scouts observe games weekly across the region to identify players with the potential to play at the MLS Academy level. Players can initiate contact by completing the Player Application form or by emailing Jasir Charris, Head of Scouting, . If a player is identified by an Academy Scout, the coach and parent of the player will be notified of the interest by the Head of Scouting.

Elite Training Programs

The vision of the Academy’s elite training programs is to establish a commitment to players that possess the ability, attitude, and desire to compete in a unique and demanding environment, further developing players that aspire to play at the highest level. Players can try out for free for the Invitational Regional Development Schools (RDS) that are held year-round across the region. Players identified by the RDS technical staff are then recommended to the Academy Coaching Staff for future Talent Identification Centers. Open Tryouts

Open tryouts are conducted each year for the U-13 to U-19 Development Academy teams. Tryouts are typically in May and are hosted at Gillette Stadium. 2019 open tryout registration has concluded.
