FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution midfielder Carles Gil underwent successful surgery to debride his left Achilles tendon on Tuesday, August 4. The surgery was performed by Dr. Adrian Goyanes in Spain. Gil has an anticipated recovery period of three-to-five months.


Since joining the Revolution on a transfer from Deportivo de la Coruña ahead of the 2019 MLS season, Gil, 27, has appeared in 36 matches – all starts – and registered 10 goals and 15 assists in league play. He became the first player in club history to win MLS Newcomer of the Year honors after his debut season in 2019. Gil also earned a 2019 MLS Best XI selection, as well as several team awards including JetBlue Team MVP, Revolution Players’ Player of the Year, and the Revolution Golden Boot.
