Academy Update | U17s, U15s, U14s open spring slates vs. Boston Bolts

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Three of the four New England Revolution Academy teams opened their spring slates over the weekend at Gillette Stadium. The Under-17s, Under-15s, and Under-14s all faced off against local rival Boston Bolts, with Under-17s and Under-14s taking commanding victories, 4-0 and 5-0 respectively, while the Under-15s played to a 1-1 draw.


Next Sunday, the Under-19s will kick off their spring schedule when the New York Red Bulls Under-19s pay a visit to Foxborough at 5:00 p.m. ET. All four New England Revolution Academy teams will be in action on March 14 at Gillette Stadium. The Under-19s, Under-17s, and Under-15s will host the Montreal Impact while the Under-14s will host Valeo Futbol Club.


WEEKHIGHLIGHTS


  • Midfielder Samuel White (Sterling, Mass. – 2003) netted a pair of goals for the Under-17s, his first two tallies of the spring season, in the team’s 4-0 win.
  • Also for the Under-17s, midfielder Morris Matthews (Cambridge, Mass. – 2003) tallied a goal, his first in over two years for the Revolution Academy.
  • Forward Malcolm Fry (Groton, Mass. – 2005) scored the lone goal of the weekend for the Under-15s in a 1-1 tie, converting a penalty in the 62nd minute.
  • Four different players factored into multiple goals for the Under-14s in their 5-0 win. Forwards Jordi Tornberg Ayala (Revere, Mass. – 2006) and Benaiah Hanson (Loudon, N.H. – 2006) combined for the opening goal of the match, scored by Ayala. Hanson followed up with a goal just before halftime while Ayala provided a second-half assist.
  • Under-14s defender Luke Churchill (North Easton, Mass. – 2006) scored his first goal for the Revolution Academy in the second half, eight minutes after providing his first Academy assist.
  • Midfielder Hayes Benzan (Mattapan, Mass. – 2006) provided a pair of assists for Under-14s on Sunday.
  • Under-17s goalkeeper Sebastian Pliszka (Newington, Conn. – 2004) kept a clean sheet while Under-15s keepers Ryan Carney (Dunstable, Mass. – 2006) and Sebastian Wraga (Springfield, Mass. – 2006) combined for a shutout.
