Academy Update: Trio of teams host rival New York Red Bulls at Gillette Stadium

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy continued its fall season this weekend as three teams returned to action on Sunday, Nov. 18. The Under-19, Under-17, and Under-15 teams all hosted the Academy teams of the New York Red Bulls at Gillette Stadium.


The U-19 and U-17 Academy teams will be back on the pitch in two weeks as they will travel to Sarasota, Fla. to take part in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase against various teams from across the country, beginning on Nov. 29. Select Winter Showcase matches will be streamed live via U.S. Soccer’s official website and social media platforms, with the formal list of games to be announced on www.ussoccerda.com later this week.


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Midfielder Elio Firmino (Somerville, Mass.—2001) scored his fourth goal of the season in the U-19s’ 1-0 win over the New York Red Bulls on Sunday, Nov. 18 at Gillette Stadium.
  • Midfielder Victor Viana (South Dennis, Mass.—2001) notched his second assist of the season in the U-19s’ 1-0 win. Viana also has one goal this season.
  • Forward Andrew Serafino (East Longmeadow, Mass—2003) scored his seventh goal of the fall campaign in the U-17s’ home loss against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday afternoon.
  • Midfielder Felipe Vieira (Malden, Mass.—2003) tallied his third assist of the season on the U-17s’ lone goal in their match against the New York Red Bulls.
