Cristian Penilla vs. Chicago Fire

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution (8-10-11, 35 pts.) played the Chicago Fire (7-15-7, 28 pts.) to a 2-2 draw before a crowd of 24,388 at Gillette Stadium on Saturday evening. Scott Caldwell and Cristian Penilla were the goal scorers for the Revolution, tallying in the 62nd and 70th minutes, respectively. Fire midfielder Aleksandar Katai opened the scoring for the visitors with a 19th-minute goal, and Michael Mancienne recorded an own goal in the 67th minute. Tonight's result leaves the Revolution five points behind the Montreal Impact for the sixth playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with a game in hand.

Penilla's equalizing goal in the 70th minute gives New England two 10-goal scorers for the second straight year, and the fifth time in club history. Forward Teal Bunbury has 11 goals of his own this season, which leads all Revolution players. Midfielder Juan Agudelo registered his fourth assist of the season on Penilla's goal, leaving him one shy of matching his previous career high of five, which he set in 2016.

Goalkeeper Brad Knighton made his third consecutive start in net and recorded four saves. In his three starts, Knighton has registered 15 saves and helped the Revs to a 1-0-2 record. New England is now unbeaten in four games this month with a 1-0-3 record since Sept. 1.

New England returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 29, when it visits BMO Field for a matchup with Toronto FC. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Boston. Fans may also listen on the radio in English on 98.5 The Sports Hub and in Portuguese on 1260 AM Nossa Radio.
