KICK CHILDHOOD CANCER GAME

The Revs will host their fifth annual Kick Childhood Cancer Game when the Chicago Fire visits Foxborough on Saturday night. In recognition of September as Childhood Cancer Awareness month, there will be special gold-themed match-day elements, including a commemorative gold adidas Nativo match ball, gold nets, gold corner flags, a gold captain’s armband and gold ribbons on all players’ jerseys.

Several of those items will be available via online auction after the match, with all proceeds going to benefit Binkeez for Comfort, a local nonprofit organization that provides handmade blankets to babies and children that bring comfort to young patients in hospitals.

There will also be unique Kick Childhood Cancer pins available with a suggested donation of only $5 with proceeds directly benefitting Binkeez For Comfort. You can find these pins at Revolution Foundation tables in FanZone, the Main Concourse and the Putnam Club until the 60th minute.

MLS also invites you to use the hashtag “#ScarvesUp” on Twitter and Instagram, to help raise money for Children's Oncology Group, which is the world's largest organization devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research. For each social post that tags @MLS along with the “#ScarvesUp,” the league will donate $5 to the organization.

RECENT FORM VS. CHICAGO FIRE

This will be the 60th regular-season match between the New England Revolution and Chicago Fire, and the 80th overall meeting since the Fire’s inaugural season in 1998. Over the course of their lengthy history these two sides have played 15 playoff matches, all in a 10-year span between 2000 and 2009.

Bastian Schweinsteiger and Teal Bunbury traded second-half goals in a 1-1 draw on June 9 at Toyota Park, a result that snapped the Revolution’s four-game losing streak in the series. New England’s loss to Chicago at Gillette Stadium last June ended a string of four straight wins for the Revs in Foxborough.

With the Revs hungry to turn the tables in this critical Eastern Conference showdown – and in need of three points to continue climbing toward the playoff places – this will be a game that you don’t want to miss.

Overall Record vs. Chicago Fire: 21-26-12
