RECAP: Revolution drop 2-0 road result to rival New York Red Bulls

HARRISON, N.J. – The New England Revolution (7-7-7, 28 pts.) fell to the New York Red Bulls (12-5-2, 38 pts.), 2-0, at Red Bull Arena on Saturday evening. Red Bulls forward Daniel Royer opened the scoring for the hosts in the 69th minute, when he slotted in a right-footed shot off a set piece. Bradley Wright-Phillips doubled New York's lead 11 minutes later with a headed finish inside of the near post.


More than 700 Season Members traveled down to Harrison to support the Revolution at tonight's match as a benefit of their ticket package. The Revs will also host a traveling Season Members group for the club's match at the Philadelphia Union on Aug. 25.


New England returns to action on Saturday, Aug. 4, when the club closes its three-match away stretch against Orlando City SC at Orlando City Stadium. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Boston, with Brad Feldman and Paul Mariner on the call. Fans may also listen on the radio in English on 98.5 The Sports Hub and in Portuguese on 1260 AM Nossa Radio.

  • The Revolution fell to the New York Red Bulls, 2-0, on Saturday, bringing the club’s record to 7-7-7 (28 pts.) through 21 matches of the 2018 regular season. The Revolution are now 1-4-4 in away matches in 2018.
  • New England's all-time record against New York moves to 30-27-15, including an 8-21-8 mark on the road.


Over 700 Revolution Supporters Travel to Red Bull Arena

  • The Revolution had the support of more than 700Season Members at Red Bull Arena for tonight's match, marking the second straight year the club has organized a traveling caravan to New Jersey.
  • New England will also host a group of Season Members for the club's match on Aug. 25 at Philadelphia.
  • As a benefit of their ticket package, Season Members are offered the opportunity to support the Revolution at an away game.


Farrell Awarded Captain's Armband

  • Revolution defender Andrew Farrell started a match with the captain's armband for the first time in his six-year MLS career in tonight's contest.
  • Farrell paces all Revolution field players in appearances (21), games started (21), and minutes played (1,860) this season.
  • In club history, the defender ranks eighth in games played (180), seventh in games started (179), and seventh in minutes played (15,897).
  • Dating back to 2013, Farrell leads all MLS field players in minutes played, games played, and games started.


Revolution Make Four Changes to Starting XI

  • Revolution Head Coach Brad Friedel made four changes to the club’s starting lineup from its most recent match on July 18 at Minnesota United FC. Defender Claude Dielna, defender Antonio Delamea, midfielder Luis Caicedo, and midfielder Cristian Penilla replaced defender Brandon Bye, defender Gabriel Somi, midfielder Kelyn Rowe, and midfielder Scott Caldwell replaced.
  • Penilla served his one-game red card suspension, while Delamea and Caicedo served their one-game suspensions for yellow card accumulation at Minnesota on Wednesday.
