Traveling support to provide boost at RBA: “They’re going to help us push through”

Revolution supporters at Red Bull Arena 2014 Eastern Conference Championship

HARRISON, N.J. – As the New England Revolution finish off a hectic three-game week that includes a two-game road trip, there will be something extra special in the air as they play at Red Bull Arena on Saturday night.

The songs and chants of approximately 700 Revolution supporters will be echoing in the stadium as a large contingent of fans will make the trip to support the Revs against the New York Red Bulls, giving them a spark as they close out a busy week.

“It’s huge,” said goalkeeper Matt Turner. “We’re going to need the boost. We had two games in a row that we felt we should’ve done better in. We love our fans. We know that they’re going to support us through thick and thin.”

The Revs have had strong traveling support at Red Bull Arena since the venue opened in 2010, highlighted by the 1,250 fans who made the trip for the first leg of the 2014 Eastern Conference Championship.

Both the team and the supporters know that with this longstanding rivalry, the competition always ramps up when these two teams kick off.

“This game means a lot to everyone in the locker room and also to the fans,” said Antonio Delamea. “I still remember last year how many fans came to that game, and I hope there will be a few this year too because we really need their support in these hard times for us when we are still fighting for the best spot in the playoffs.”

While some fans make travel arrangements on their own, the majority of supporters are coming as part of their Revs’ Season Membership. New England offers a unique Season Membership program where along with the 17 matches at Gillette Stadium and other amenities, members also receive an option to travel to an away match – this year either Red Bull Arena or Talen Energy Stadium in Philadelphia – with the Revs providing round-trip transportation from Foxborough as well as a game ticket.

“Seven hundred’s a huge traveling support and they’re really going to help us push through this tough time,” said Turner, who is from Park Ridge, N.J., just 30 miles from Red Bull Arena. “I also have about 90 of my family and friends coming to the game, so there will be about 800 fans singing out there for the Revs. It’s going to be a great night, and we look forward to putting on a good show for them.”

The Revs will kick off at Red Bull Arena on Saturday at 7 p.m.
