RECENT FORM IN THE U.S. OPEN CUP

In this fourth round U.S. Open Cup match, the New England Revolution and Louisville City FC will square off against one another for the first time in history. Twenty U.S.-based MLS teams have now entered the knockout competition, and this clash will be one of 16 matches played in this round of the Open Cup. The winner of this match will advance to the Round of 16.

The Revs have a deep history with the U.S. Open Cup, winning the title in 2007. Last year, New England made a run to the Open Cup quarterfinals, where they fell to the New York Red Bulls. In 2016, New England went all the way to the U.S. Open Cup Final before suffering a heartbreaking loss to FC Dallas.

To add to the intrigue, Revs defender Andrew Farrell is a native of Louisville, Kentucky, having lived there for much of his childhood. Farrell also played soccer at the University of Louisville alongside current Louisville City FC captain – and his close friend – Paolo DelPiccolo.
