Youth team callups

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution Academy players Trevor Burns, Daniel Jones, and Justin Rennicks have been called in to the U.S. National Team. Burns was named to the Futures Camp roster which will take place in Bradenton, Fla. Jones and Rennicks have been called into a fourteen-day camp, which begins on Saturday, May 28 and ends on Saturday June, 8 in Guadalajara, Mexico.

“This is another excellent opportunity for Daniel and Justin to train alongside some of the most promising players from their age group,” Revolution Director of Youth Development, Bryan Scales said. “It’s an honor for each of these young men to be invited back to a U.S. National Team camp. We hope they take full advantage of this valuable experience.”

Jones, who plays primarily as an attacking left back, is in his fourth year with the Revolution Academy, having joined ahead of the 2012-13 season. A native of West Hartford, Conn., he has made 83 appearances with the Academy, with 12 coming this season, tallying 14 goals and nine assists in that time. Jones, 17, has previously been called in to three U.S. Under-16 camps and tournaments in the past year before advancing to the U.S. U-18s for the Open Nordic Cup in June 2015, followed by training camp in Carson, Calif. in October 2015.

A pacey forward, Rennicks has made 89 appearances in his four seasons with the Academy. The South Hamilton, Mass. native has scored 30 goals and added 22 assists since joining the Academy ahead of the 2012-13 season, including six goals and one assist in 13 appearances so far in the 2015-16 campaign. In his most recent call-up with the U.S. National Team, Rennicks played a pair of matches with the U-18s against Canada during training camp in Carson, Calif. in October 2015. The 16-year-old has tallied either a goal or an assist in each National Team tournament he has taken part in, scoring for the U.S. U-16s at the 2015 Aegan Cup International Youth Tournament in January and recording an assist for the U-16s at the Netherlands International Tournament in March, before tallying another assist at the Open Nordic Cup with the U-18s in August. In February, Rennicks trained with the Revolution first team during preseason in Tucson, Ariz.
