Revolution Headlines: September 16

Andrew Farrell vs. New York Red Bulls

Tonight we have a midweek Eastern Conference matchup between your fourth-place Revs and the first-place Red Bulls.

The Revs are unbeaten in their last seven and riding a “red-hot” five game winning streak. The Revs have been enjoying a nice scoring output, outscoring their competition 13-2 during their winning streak. Their offense faces a tough test tonight against a Red Bulls defense that is only allowing 1.15 goals per game.

The last meeting between these two teams was a disappointing 4-1 loss for the Revolution. “That was a real tough challenge last time we played them,” said Jay Heaps. “We weren’t at our best.” Tonight is the Revs chance to gain some valuable points and perhaps some payback for that last matchup.

The Revolution enter tonight with 43 points, a mere two behind the Red Bulls 45 points which has them leading the conference, along with DC United. The Revolution will be without Jermaine Jones who is suspended, so that begs the question of what the starting lineup will look like.

Ahead of the matchup, NE Soccer Today pointed out five major questions for tonight. One important issue they raised was, can the Revs hold their defensive shape against the likes of Bradley Wright- Phillips and company? We shall see!
