HARRISON, N.J. – Charlie Davies scored his first MLS goal since 2011 and gave the New England Revolution a halftime lead, but the New York Red Bulls scored two second-half goals while down a man to claim a 2-1 win at Red Bull Arena.
Davies’ goal in the 20th minute was his first goal for club or country since Sept. 10, 2011, and it sent the Revs to the halftime break ahead. New England (8-12-2, 26 pts.) also went up a man in first-half stoppage time when New York (6-6-10, 28 pts.) saw defender Matt Miazga see a straight red for his awkward midfield tackle on Lee Nguyen.
However, the Revs surrendered the equalizer two minutes after the break through Dax McCarty and then the go-ahead goal in the 63rd minute through league goal-scoring leader Bradley Wright-Phillips.
