U14s vs. Match Fit - Youth teams

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution’s Under-14 team was the Revs’ only youth team in action last weekend, posting a 5-0 win over Players Development Academy on Saturday, May 17, at Gillette Stadium. The Revolution’s U14 team is now unbeaten in its last 16 matches, dating back to October.

UNDER-14s

The Under-14s benefitted from five different goal scorers in the 5-0 win on Saturday. The Revs took the lead in the fifth minute, when Laz Dorogi (West Boylston, Mass.) swept home the rebound after Christian Schifano’s (Sudbury, Mass.) shot had been saved. The score held through the halftime break, with both sides struggling to create chances in the first half. The U14s grabbed a second goal early in the second half, as Dorogi slipped a ball through to Connor Haskell (Medfield, Mass.) to score after going one-on-one with the PDA goalkeeper. The Revs extended the lead seven minutes later, with Andrew Talcott (Westwood, Mass.) finding the net with a first-time shot off of Evan Glass’s (Boxford, Mass.) delivery. The U14s went on to add two more goals through Calvin Aroh (Glastonbury, Conn.), who headed in Joe Brito’s (Bolton, Conn.) corner kick, and Isaac Angking (Providence, R.I.), who finished Haskell’s cutback past the ‘keeper. The Revs’ defense preserved the shutout, with goalkeeper Eddie Walsh (Westwood, Mass.) only required to make three saves on the day.  The win extended the U14s’ unbeaten streak to 16 games (13-0-3) since Oct. 6, 2013, and the team is now 14-2-3 for the season.

All three youth teams – the Under-18s, Under-16s and Under-14s – are back in action next weekend, when they welcome Everton FC Westchester to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., on Sunday, May 25.
