CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – The Revolution completes an 11-day training camp in Casa Grande, Ariz., on Tuesday, Jan. 31, before returning to Foxborough, Mass., for three weeks of training.


The trip was highlighted by a 2-1 victory in a friendly against FC Tucson on Saturday, Jan. 28. The trip also featured two 11-v-11 intra-squad scrimmages at Grande Sports World.


TEAM NOTES

Current training camp roster
An up-to-date preseason roster can be accessed at the team’s website HERE ... this roster will be updated weekly roster so check the web site regularly for the most up-to-date version … click on the CLUB link at the top of the home page, and click the 2012 Preseason Roster (PDF) link in the drop-down menu … as of Monday, seven non-rostered players are in camp with the Revolution: forward David Foley, defender Kevin Garcia, midfielder Jeremiah White, defender Theophile “Junior” N’Tame, forward Alec Purdie, forward Michael Roach and forward Dawyne “Rick” Smith.


Revolution announces two game changes
On Monday, the Revolution announced that two changes have been made to its 2012 home schedule. … the team’s home match against the Montreal Impact (originally scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 11) will now be played on Sunday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m. … additionally, the Revs’ second home match against Columbus will now be played on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 8 p.m … that match was originally scheduled to be played on Wednesday, Oct. 3 … the Revs’ updated 2012 schedule can be accessed HERE.


Revs take first preseason action against FC Tucson
The Revs opened their preseason schedule on Saturday, Jan. 28, with its first outside opponent action in a 2-1 win against FC Tucson (Premier Development League) – the club’s host in February at the FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup in Tucson … Sainey Nyassi and Kenny Mansally netted goals in an extended match which featured two 35-minute periods followed by an additional 45-minute period … rookie Kelyn Rowe started in his first game for the Revs and assisted on Nyassi’s 38th-minute goal … for a full recap of the game, click HERE.


Conference calls recap
Last week, Revolution head coach Jay Heaps participated in two conference calls with the media to discuss preseason updates from Arizona … the first call on the opening of camp, alongside Matt Reis and A.J. Soares, took place on Wednesday, Jan. 25, and a transcript can be read HERE … on Sunday, Jan 29, Benny Feilhaber and Chris Tierney joined Heaps on the call to update the media following the club’s first preseason match against FC Tucson, and the transcript for that call is found HERE.

YOUTH TEAMS UPDATE


Seven participate in U.S. Soccer Training Center
Under-18 player Dominik Machado (Attleborough, Mass.) and Under-16 players Daniel Apajee (Cranston, R.I.), Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.), Zach Herivaux (Brookline, Mass.), Amadu Kunateh (Lynn, Mass.), Declan McCabe (Weston, Mass.) and Christian Sady (North Andover, Mass.) participated in the U.S. Soccer Training Center on Saturday, Jan. 28, at the Dana-Farber Field House on the grounds of Gillette Stadium … administered by the U.S. Soccer Development Academy regional conference’s technical advisor and members of the U.S. Soccer national staff, these sessions are designed to evaluate top players from the area’s Academy teams before Youth National Team trips and camps


Kabala remains with U17 Residency Program
Under-16 player Guyllain “Guy” Kabala (Manchester, N.H.) is among the 31 players selected to U.S. Soccer’s Under-17 Residency Program for its spring semester in Bradenton, Fla. … Kabala joined the program in the fall of 2011, and is currently in his second semester of the two-year cycle in preparation for the 2013 CONCACAF U17 Championship … while in the program, he will continue to live on campus at the IMG Academy and train in the morning under the guidance of new U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team head coach Richie Williams.


Youth teams on winter break
Outside of regular training, both the U18s and U16s have a break from competition until early March, when the Revs will resume their fourth season in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy … both teams finished the 2011 portion of the season at the top of the Northeast Division of the East Conference: the U18s hold a 4-1-0 record (12 pts.), while the U16s are 3-2-0 (9 pts.) … kicking off a series of road matches, the youth teams will next play D.C. United at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Md., on Saturday, March 10.
