FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Major League Soccer today unveiled its 2012 regular-season schedule, a slate that sees each of the 19 teams playing a 34-game schedule, beginning March 10 and ending on October 28. The league’s 19 teams will play a regionally-focused schedule, meaning teams will face intra-conference teams more frequently and will not play every team home and away this season.

With the new schedule format, the Revolution will play seven Eastern Conference teams three times each this season: Chicago, Columbus, D.C., Kansas City, Montreal, New York and Philadelphia. The Revs will face Chicago, Columbus and New York twice at home and once on the road, while the club will travel twice to D.C., Kansas City, Montreal and Philadelphia with one return meeting against each in Foxborough. New England will play two-game series with Houston and Toronto. Eastern Conference opponents comprise 25 games of the 34-game schedule.

The remaining nine games will be played against Western Conference opponents as the Revs will face each Western team only one time apiece in 2012. The Revolution will host Chivas USA, Colorado, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver at Gillette Stadium, and will travel to Dallas, LA, Real Salt Lake and San Jose.

After opening the season on the road against the San Jose Earthquakes on March 10, the Revs will travel to Kansas City for the first time on March 17. Five of the team’s first seven matches will be played away from home.

New England opens its 17-game MLS home slate against Portland on March 24. The Revs will play just two home games in the first two months of the season, also facing long-time rival D.C. United on April 14. However, beginning May 2, New England will host 10 league matches in 15 weeks at Gillette Stadium.

Among the other schedule highlights, the Revs will host MLS Cup runner-up Houston on May 19, and Seattle on June 30. League newcomer Montreal will make its first-ever visit to Foxborough on August 11, while September features I-95 rivals Philadelphia on Sept. 1, and New York on Sept. 22. The Revs will close their home schedule on Oct. 20 against rival Chicago.

The Revolution will have four matches broadcast nationally. Three games will be broadcast on new MLS partner NBC Sports, while the other 31 matches will be broadcast regionally by Comcast SportsNet New England. Additionally, the July 8 home match against New York will also be televised nationally in Spanish on Galavision.

The Revs will make all four of their Western Conference road trips in the first nine weeks of the season, traveling to San Jose (March 10), LA (March 31), Dallas (April 5) and Real Salt Lake (May 5). 

The team’s three-game series against the New York Red Bulls opens in Harrison, N.J., on April 28, before turning to Gillette Stadium on July 8 and Sept. 22.  All of the Revolution’s matches against its I-95 corridor rivals – New York, Philadelphia and D.C. – are scheduled for weekends, including four Saturday contests on the road.

The Revolution will make its first-ever trip to Montreal on July 18, before closing the regular season in the Quebec city on October 27.

The Revolution opens training camp on January 16, and will make two training trips to Arizona during the seven-week preseason camp. The team will depart on Jan. 21 for Casa Grande, Ariz., for an 11-day trip, before returning to the Copper State on Feb. 20 for a two-week stay in Tucson, during which it will face LA, New York and Real Salt Lake in the FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup.
