FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution has re-signed two second-year players in forward/midfielder Zak Boggs and goalkeeper Tim Murray. Per Major League Soccer and team policies, terms of the deals were not released.

Boggs, 24, made nine appearances, including four starts, in his rookie season after signing with the Revolution on March 15, 2010. He scored two goals, both coming in his first-career start on May 8 at Columbus, but missed the final 17 matches of the season after suffering a concussion in late June. A versatile player, Boggs is a natural left-sided midfielder, but also saw time as a forward, right-sided midfielder and right back in his rookie season. The Revolution drafted Boggs in the second round (31st overall) in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.

Murray, 23, did not make any appearances with the first team in 2010, but by the end of the season was the team’s second-string goalkeeper following season-ending injuries to two other keepers. Murray originally signed with the club on April 29, 2010 as a free agent following a four-year career at Providence College.

“We’re pleased that both Zak and Tim are returning this year,” Revolution Vice President of Player Personnel Michael Burns said. “Both are promising young players who have worked hard during preseason to earn spots on the team.”

The Revolution departs on an 11-day training trip to the Atlanta area on Thursday, March 3. The team will play three matches against MLS opponents during the trip, including two matches against the Columbus Crew and one against the Houston Dynamo.
