  • Today’s lineup features three changes from last weekend’s Starting XI against New York. Henry Kessler replaces Jon Bell in central defense, Tommy McNamara steps into the central midfield in place of Wilfrid Kaptoum, and Adam Buksa gets the start at forward to replace Gustavo Bou.
  • Henry Kessler returns to the Starting XI for the first time since May 8, joining Andrew Farrell, DeJuan Jones and Brandon Bye on New England’s backline. The Revolution’s defense has conceded just one goal from open play over the last three games.
  • Matt Turner backstops a New England defense that has conceded one-or-fewer goals in five of the last six games, including two clean sheets. Turner logged a seven-save shutout performance in his only encounter against FC Cincinnati, a 2-0 win on July 21, 2019.
  • Adam Buksa returns to the Starting XI after scoring in back-to-back games off the bench. Buksa ranks fifth in MLS in expected goals this season and leads the Revolution in goals scored (3), shots (22) and shots on goal (8). His next goal will be his 10th in MLS.
  • Tajon Buchanan logs his second straight start today. Buchanan opened his 2021 account with the game-winning goal in last weekend’s 3-1 win over New York and matched his career-high in shots on goal (4). He continues to remain as one of only two Revolution players to appear in every contest since 2020, alongside Buksa.
  • Carles Gil enters today’s match tied for the league lead in assists with four. He is also pacing the league in chances created (38), big chances created (8), and dribbles completed (25).
  • Gil is one of three Revolution players to start each match and play every minute this season along with Farrell and Matt Turner. The 28-year-old midfielder from Spain owns one goal and one assist in two career games played against FC Cincinnati.
  • Arnór Traustason collects his seventh consecutive start today. The 28-year-old Icelandic winger registered two assists, including his first in MLS, over 61 minutes in last Saturday’s victory.
  • The central midfield duo of Tommy McNamara and Matt Polster starts together for the second time this season and the first since the club’s season opener at Chicago on April 17. McNamara and Polster have both appeared in every match this season.
  • Brandon Bye collects his fourth consecutive start today. Bye, who owns one goal and one assist this season, ranks among league leaders in duels won (T-3rd - 54) and tackles won (T-5th – 14). On the offensive end, Bye’s seven shots rank sixth among MLS defenders.
  • Andrew Farrell collects his 247th appearance for New England today, surpassing Chris Tierney for sole possession of fourth on the Revolution’s all-time games played list. Farrell ranks among league leaders in possession won (2nd - 60) and clearances (T-5th - 31).

Bench: GK Brad Knighton, D Jon Bell, D A.J. DeLaGarza, M Scott Caldwell, M Emmanuel Boateng, M Wilfrid Kaptoum, M Maciel, F Teal Bunbury, F Edward Kizza

  • Teal Bunbury has appeared in all but one match this season, including one start. The 12th-year forward is three appearances shy of his 300th in MLS.
  • Wilfrid Kaptoum has appeared in three of the last four contests. The 24-year-old midfielder collected his second MLS start in last Saturday’s win over New York.
  • Revolution II graduates Maciel and Jon Bell are both on the bench for today’s match. Bell has logged three consecutive 90-minute performances in central defense, while Maciel returns to the matchday squad after missing the last two games.
  • Edward Kizza continues to appear on the matchday roster for every game this season. New England’s first-round selection in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft, Kizza made his Gillette Stadium debut with a six-minute shift off the bench in last Saturday’s win over New York.
  • Emmanuel Boateng appears on the matchday roster for the second consecutive game. The 27-year-old midfielder owns one goal in three career games played against FC Cincinnati and will make his Revolution debut if he appears in today’s match.
