FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution II has signed midfielder Patrick Leal to an MLS NEXT Pro professional contract through the 2024 season. The Newton, Mass. native returns to his hometown club through transfer from Venezia FC.
Leal, 20, joined the New England Revolution Academy in 2016 from Valeo FC. The midfielder netted seven goals in 25 appearances with the Under-14s before making the move abroad, joining Beleneses for one year before signing a five-year deal with Sporting Clube de Portugal in October 2018. Leal went on to sign with Venezia in 2021 and owned four goals and six assists across 27 appearances with the Italian football club’s Academy side and made one senior team appearance.
“We’re excited to welcome Patrick back to New England,” Technical Director Curt Onalfo said. “He is a talented soccer player and we’re thrilled to have him join our second team as he embarks on our pro player pathway process.”
