Revs celebrate goal against Houston

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution (2-2-1; 7 pts.) defeated the Houston Dynamo (3-2-0; 9 pts.), 2-0, at Gillette Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Forwards Kei Kamara and Juan Agudelo scored in the second half to secure three points for New England, which extended its MLS-best home winning streak to six matches and its current unbeaten streak to three matches.


Kamara opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, cleaning up his own rebound to notch his second goal of the season and the 88th of his MLS career. The goal ties Kamara with Roy Lassiter for the 11th most goals scored in League history. Agudelo doubled New England’s lead in the 72nd minute, firing home a rebound off a clearance from Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric. Agudelo’s tally moves him into a tie with Wolde Harris for 10th place on the Revolution’s all-time goal scoring chart.


In the match, midfielder Diego Fagundez became the first Homegrown field player in MLS history to eclipse 10,000 regular season minutes. He joins D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid as the only two Homegrown Players to reach 10,000 minutes, while Revolution midfielder Scott Caldwell currently ranks third all-time among Homegrown Players with 9,592 career minutes.


New England returns to action next Saturday, April 15, when the club travels to play the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park. The match kicks off at 5:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast locally on CSN New England, where Brad Feldman and Paul Mariner will be on the call. Revolution Extend Home Winning Streak to MLS-Best Six Matches

·The Revolution defeated the Houston Dynamo, 2-0, bringing the club’s record to 2-2-1 (7 pts.) through five matches, all of which have been against Western Conference opposition.


·With today’s victory, New England has now won six consecutive matches at home, giving the team the longest active home winning streak in MLS. The Revolution’s current streak started on Sept. 3, 2016 with a 2-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids.


·New England snapped the previous best streak of seven games held by the Portland Timbers with last Sunday’s 1-1 draw.


Fagundez Becomes First Homegrown Field Player to Reach 10,000 Career Minutes

·Midfielder Diego Fagundez became the first Homegrown field player in MLS history to log 10,000 regular season minutes in tonight’s contest. Coming into today’s contest with 9,985 career minutes, Fagundez achieved the feat in the 15th minute of the match. 


·Now with 10,053 career minutes, Fagundez ranks second all-time among Homegrown Players in regular season minutes played. Third on the list is midfielder Scott Caldwell with 9,592 career MLS minutes. LA’s Gyasi Zardes ranks fourth with 8,725 minutes.


·D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid was the first Homegrown Player in MLS history and currently leads all Homegrown Players in minutes played with 14,559 entering Saturday’s action.


Kamara Scores Game-Winning Goal, Moves Up MLS All-Time Goals List

·Revolution forward Kei Kamara put the Revolution on the board in the 52nd minute of today’s contest. Kamara has now registered two goals on the season, both of which have come at Gillette Stadium.


·The goal was Kamara’s 88th career goal, nine of which have come as a Revolution player. Kamara is now tied for with Roy Lassiter for the 11th most goals scored in MLS history. With his next goal, Kamara will join Carlos Ruiz in a tie for 10th on the all-time MLS scoring list.


Agudelo Registers Insurance Goal, Ties for 10th in Club History

·Revolution forward Juan Agudelo found the back of the net for the third time this season in the 72nd minute of today’s match.


·The goal is Agudelo’s 24th career Revolution goal, tying him with Wolde Harris for 10th place on the club’s all-time goals list. With his next goal, Agudelo will join Clint Dempsey for ninth all-time with 25 goals.


Cropper Posts First Shutout of 2017

·Goalkeeper Cody Cropper held the Houston Dynamo scoreless in today’s 1-0 victory. The Maple Grove, Minn. native registered one save, giving him seven on the season.


·The shutout is Cropper’s first of the 2017 season and the second of his MLS career. Cropper posted his first shutout in his Revolution debut on Oct. 23, 2016 vs. Montreal, a 3-0 victory.


Agudelo Makes 75th Career Revolution Appearance, 50th Start with Revs

·Forward Juan Agudelo made his 75th career appearance with the Revolution and started his 50th game with the club. 


·Agudelo has registered 24 goals and nine assists in his four years as a Revolution player.


Rowe Shows Versatility, Makes 125th Career Start, First at Left Back

·Midfielder Kelyn Rowe made his first career start at left back in today’s contest. The start is also Rowe’s third career start on the Revolution backline, as he made two starts at right back for the Revolution in 2016: May 14 vs. Chicago and Aug. 24 at San Jose. 


·The start was Rowe’s 125th career start, all of which have come as a Revolution player. He is now one of 12 players to reach the milestone, joining teammates Chris Tierney (201), Lee Nguyen (159), and Andrew Farrell(132) on the list.


Revolution Make One Change to Starting XI

·Revolution Head Coach Jay Heaps made one change to the club’s starting lineup from its most recent match on April 2 at the Portland Timbers. Midfielder Scott Caldwell returned to the Starting XI, while Chris Tierney shifted to the bench.
