Revolution Academy Update: October 5, 2017

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – It was a busy weekend for the Revolution Academy, as the five teams combined to play eight matches in a two-day stretch. All five teams traveled to Purchase, N.Y. for road contests on Saturday, Sept. 30, while the Under-15s, Under-14s, and Under-13s remained in New York for matches at New York Soccer Club in Harrison, N.Y. on Sunday, Oct. 1.


The upcoming weekend marks a bye week for all Academy teams in USSDA play, however, the U-17s and U-15s will travel to Chester, Pa. for the 2017 Generation adidas Cup Fall Regional Event. Both teams will play the New York Red Bulls on Friday, Oct. 6, followed by the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, Oct. 7.


All five teams will return to action with home games on Saturday, Oct. 14 against fellow MLS Academy New York City FC. The U-13s and U-14s will play matches at Medway High School, while the U-15s, U-17s, and U-19s will play their contests at Gillette Stadium.


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Forward Isaac Angking '00 (Providence, R.I.) posted a hat trick for the U-19s in a 5-2 win over FC Westchester Armour. Angking leads all Revolution Academy players this season with nine goals.
  • Midfielder/forward Damian Rivera '02 (Cranston, R.I.) scored the game-winning goal in the U-17s 2-0 win over FC Westchester Armour. Goalkeeper Austin Causey '01 (Groton, Mass.) made seven saves in the shutout victory.
  • Forward Andrew Serafino '03 (East Longmeadow, Mass.) scored a combined three goals and one assist in the U-15s two matches. Goalkeeper Nick Cardona '03 (Roxbury, Mass.) registered three saves to preserve a clean sheet in the 2-0 victory over FC Westchester Armour.
  • The Under-14s registered 15 goals in two matches over the weekend, a two-match high for any Academy team this season. Midfielder/forward Michael Hofstetter '04 (East Greenwich, R.I.) led all scorers with four goals and an assist on the weekend. Austin Bush '04 (Southampton, Mass.), Matteo Gomes '04 (Dracut, Mass.), and Christian Martins '04 (Framingham, Mass.) each recorded multiple goals over the weekend.
  • Midfielder Marco Dos Santos '05 (Windham, Mass.) notched a goal and an assist in the U-13s' 2-2 draw at New York Soccer Club.
