FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Under-14 team was the lone Academy side in action last weekend, topping both BW Gottschee Academy and Cedar Stars Academy. The U-14s earned a 3-1 win against BW Gottschee Academy in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday, March 21 before completing a weekend sweep with a 4-1 win over Cedar Stars Academy in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey on Sunday.

The Revolution Under-18 and Under-16 sides were also scheduled to face BW Gottschee on Saturday but their games were postponed due to snow early in the day in the New York area.

Gustavo Cassemiro (Framingham, Mass.) continued his scoring streak, netting for the fourth consecutive game as the Under-14s beat BW Gottschee Academy 3-1 on Saturday. BW Gottschee went down a man after five minutes when Mateo Alzate was shown a red card, and the Revs took advantage, going ahead in the 21st minute. Kevin Vang (Cranston, R.I.) swung in a free kick from the right that found Luis Blanco (Pawtucket, R.I.) at the far post and his first time finish put the Revs up 1-0. The U-14s doubled their lead in the 34th minute when Vang again produced the assist, finding Cassemiro at the top of the area and allowing him to turn his defender and hit a shot into the lower left corner of the net, making the score 2-0. BW Gottschee pulled a goal back just before halftime through Oneil Smith-Elias, but Samuel Deossa (Watertown, Mass.) put the game out of reach with 10 minutes remaining, finding the net after a goalmouth scramble for his second goal of the season, giving New England a 3-1 win.
