FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – There will be a heavy New England Revolution presence in this year’s NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship as 14 alumni of the Revolution Academy will represent eight different schools in the tournament, which kicks off on Thursday night.
The University of New Hampshire features the most Revolution representation with three players on the roster, while Dartmouth College, Michigan State University, the University of Virginia and the University of Louisville all boast two alumni of the Revs Academy. Georgetown University, Indiana University and the University of North Carolina Wilmington each feature one former Revolution Academy player.
University of New Hampshire: Chris Arling, Willis Griffith, Will Rasid
University of Virginia: Max Diamond, Aaron James
Michigan State University: Nick Woodruff, Alex Shterenberg
University of Louisville: Izaiah Jennings, Trey Miller
Dartmouth College: Amadu Kunateh, Matt Ranieri
Georgetown University: Declan McCabe
Indiana University: Justin Rennicks
University of North Carolina Wilmington: Bryant Nardizzi
Six of the eight schools featuring Revolution Academy alumni earned byes directly to the second round, with Indiana (Rennicks) and Louisville (Jennings, Miller) both ranked in the top four in the country.
The second Homegrown Player in New England Revolution history and the club’s 2015 team MVP, Scott Caldwell, caught the attention of Revolution fans in 2010 when he led the University of Akron to a national title, scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Andrew Farrell’s Louisville.
