CURRENT FORM

New England Revolution
10th in Eastern Conference (5-4-5, 20 pts.)

Last Result | 1-1 draw at D.C. United

The New England Revolution remain unbeaten in eight straight games after a midweek draw with D.C. United at Audi Field. While the Revs have been road warriors, collecting 13 points on the road so far this season – with nine of 14 games played away – they were disappointed to not take all three points in the nation’s capital.

Saturday’s match in Montréal will mark the Revolution’s third road game in a week, as they finish out a heavy road stretch before returning home for the entirety of June. After tying their last four games, New England will be hungry to take the three points up North.

CF Montréal
15th in Eastern Conference (1-10-5, 8 pts.)

Last Result | 4-2 loss at Inter Miami CF

Similar to New England, Montréal will play their third game in a week on Saturday night, following a midweek road match in Miami. The Canadian side has struggled to find results this season, only earning a single win in 16 games. Their struggles have come on both ends of the pitch, with the second-worst goal differential in MLS (-17).

While they have yet to claim many points, Montréal has gone 1-2-2 in their last five outings, giving them a bit of momentum after tying the likes of LAFC and Columbus Crew, who both sit high up in their conference standings. Heading into Saturday’s match, Montréal will be gunning for an edge over New England in front of their home crowd.

KEY PLAYERS

Revolution winger Luis Diaz
Coming off the bench to join the attack in New England’s last four outings, Luis Diaz has proven himself as a key piece of depth for the Revolution. In last Saturday’s match at Sporting Kansas City, Diaz came on in the 70th minute and helped the Revolution equalize after trailing 3-2. Using his speed down the line to get behind his defender, Diaz was able to send a ball into the box for Maxi Urruti, who finished in the 84th minute.

Similarly, Diaz made an instant impact when he came on for the final 23 minutes of Wednesday night’s match against D.C. United. In his limited time on the pitch, Diaz fired off three shots, putting two on target – nearly clinching a game winner, which went just wide in the seventh minute of stoppage time. As New England reach the end of a busy stretch, Diaz will be amongst the Revs’ vital depth.

Montréal forward Giacomo Vrioni
Giacomo Vrioni is the second-highest scoring player on Montréal’s roster so far this season, netting three goals through six league appearances. In total, Vrioni has scored 19 goals in his MLS career, which started in 2022 with the Revolution.

Joining Montréal in 2025 after playing two-plus seasons with New England, Vrioni’s familiarity with Revolution players and the club could help him on Saturday night. Not only is Vrioni knowledgeable of New England’s style of play – playing under head coach Caleb Porter last year – but going up against old teammates can always give players a bit more motivation to perform.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

Head coach Caleb Porter on how they utilized the two days between games to prepare for Saturday:
“Mostly rest and recover, and analyze the opponent like we always do. Most of our prep is in the film room, showing them Montreal and the ways that we can hopefully find moments to hurt them and the things we need to be aware of. It’s another game where you can’t look at the table to determine the level of the game. They are actually a very good team in the attack. [Giacomo] Vrioni and [Prince] Owusu are a handful, and they do some interesting things with the ball to try to disorganize you and some rotations, so we have to be mindful of that. We have to look at how we can create goals and score goals. We talked about all those things, but mostly it’s about recovery. I like that we stay in a rhythm, so that’s good. We’re disappointed with the way the game ended [on Wednesday], so we have a chance now two days later to make up for it.”

Defender Tanner Beason on how the team will work to secure all three points in Montréal:
“It’s been a busy week in terms of games, so we need to arrive with the right attitude, right mentality, and [be] ready to play from the get-go. That will be a big piece of it, just our work rate, our effort in how we approach the game. Then just doing what we’ve been doing, being resolute defensively, and that’s a team thing, approaching that the right way. Once we get on the ball, getting the ball to our really dynamic and creative attacking players, and trying to create chances. It’s always tough on the road, it’s always going to be tough, no matter who it is.”
