CARSON, Calif. (September 5, 2026) – The New England Revolution (11-8-4, 37 pts.) fell to Western Conference side the LA Galaxy (7-9-8, 29 pts.), 2-1, on Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park. After two first-half goals from the hosts, New England cut into the deficit through a Carles Gil penalty kick in stoppage time. However, the hosts held on for the win, despite New England outshooting LA with a season-high 25 attempts to the Galaxy's seven, including an 8-3 edge in shots on target.

The hosts struck first in the 11th minute with an early goal from the penalty spot. After Kyogo Furuhashi burst past Mamadou Fofana and streaked into the box, Will Sands nearly timed his tackle perfectly, but the referee whistled for a foul and pointed to the spot. Galaxy captain Marco Reus stepped up the spot and buried his finish past Matt Turner to take the lead.

New England nearly equalized in the 23rd minute when Gil curled a left‑footed effort on target, but LA goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski tipped the ball onto the bar and over the net for a corner kick. Dor Turgeman had another quality look at goal in the 32nd minute, but Marcinkowski again came up with the save. Soon after, the hosts doubled their lead in the 33rd minute through Robert Taylor, assisted by Hirving "Chucky" Lozano and Reus.

The Revolution threatened to cut into the LA lead just two minutes into the second half, when Jack Harrison unleashed a powerful left-footed strike that was saved by Marcinkowski. The rebound fell kindly to Turgeman, who sent one of his game-high five shot attempts on target, but the Galaxy goalkeeper also denied the second effort. In the 66th minute, Alhassan Yusuf's shot from distance smashed the right post. Moments later, Peyton Miller rattled the opposite post, taking on two defenders before delivering a shot off the woodwork.

In search of a breakthrough, Head Coach Marko Mitrović brought in midfielder Dániel Gazdag, for his Revolution debut after signing with the club on Tuesday. Defender Ilay Feingold and winger Luca Langoni also logged minutes off the bench, with the latter returning from a five‑match injury absence. Langoni helped New England pull a goal back in the game's final moments when he drew a foul inside the penalty area deep into stoppage time. Gil stepped up to the spot and converted his ninth goal of the season, giving him goals in back-to-back games.

Turgeman, making his 25th MLS start, matched Miller with a team‑best five shot attempts, while Gil paced New England with six key passes and three shots on target. Both Miller and Harrison tied their MLS single‑game highs with five and four shot attempts, respectively.

The Revolution remain on the road for a two-match week, starting with a visit to New York City FC on Wednesday night.
