CURRENT FORM

New England Revolution
11th in Eastern Conference (8-13-7, 31 pts.)

Last Result | 2-1 loss vs. Charlotte FC

It looked very much like New England were on track to snap Charlotte FC’s seven-game winning streak last time out, but unfortunately it didn’t come to pass. Having equalized in the 24th minute through Ignatius Ganago, the Revs carried a 1-1 scoreline for most of the match, until an 87th-minute set-piece goal allowed Charlotte to extend their winning streak to eight.

New England outshot the red-hot Charlotte squad 20-9 last weekend and appeared to be the better side for most of the match. After striking the woodwork twice, the Revolution’s focus will be on finishing their chances. With Chicago allowing 48 goals so far this season, New England will need to take advantage of their defensive vulnerabilities this weekend.

Chicago Fire FC
10th in Eastern Conference (11-10-6, 39 pts.)

Last Result | 4-0 loss at Philadelphia Union

Prior to a tough loss against the Philadelphia Union two weeks ago, Chicago went five matches unbeaten, earning three wins and two draws. They've been impressive on the road this season, posting a 7-6-1 record away from home. However, in Illinois, their form has been less consistent, with only four home wins to show for the year.

With the Revolution visiting and carrying a solid 5-4-5 away record, Chicago will face another test as hosts. The Fire sit just one point outside of playoff contention and one spot ahead of New England in the Eastern Conference table. After a bye week to regroup, Chicago should be eager to bounce back and reignite their playoff push.

KEY PLAYERS

Revolution forward Tomás Chancalay
As Revolution striker Leo Campana is away, representing Ecuador on international duty, Tomás Chancalay could be looked upon to make an impact for New England in Chicago. The attacker has made 20 appearances for the Revolution this season after returning from ACL surgery in April.

In his 873 minutes of play, Chancalay has made five total goal contributions with four goals and one assist. He is the third highest scoring player for New England in 2025.

Fire midfielder Philip Zinckernagel
Zinckernagel has been clinical for the Fire this season, leading Chicago in goal contributions with 11 goals and 13 assists on his tally for 2025. His impressive stats rank him third in the league for most assists so far this season.

In his last five outings, the midfielder has made five goal contributions (one goal, four assists). Although Chicago are currently just outside the playoff places, Zinckernagel has played a major role in helping them become the third-highest scoring team in the East with 50 goals. The Revolution will need to thwart Chicago’s attacking threat as they, too, attempt a late-season run toward the playoffs.

HEAR FROM THE REVS

Head coach Caleb Porter on Chicago Fire FC:
“[Chicago] are a positional play team. They like to have the ball, like to use the ball to disorganize you and create chances with the ball and they’re good at that. [Chicago Head Coach] Gregg [Berhalter] is a good coach; his style of play is very clear. They have been much improved this year. Obviously, they were on the wrong end of a tough result against [Philadelphia], but prior to that, they were on a very good run of form.”

Midfielder Jackson Yueill on if this weekend’s match will have a playoff feel:
“I think we’ve known that we have to catch up and we have to make the gap smaller. Every training session and every week leading up to the game, we’ve focused solely on that game as if you would a playoff game. [Chicago] is a team that is directly in front of us, so I think it’s a little bit more that this is a 1-v-1 battle. It’s an opportunity for us to gain on them significantly. It’s definitely got that playoff feel to it. I think the guys are ready, and I think we’ve been a little unfortunate with some of the results, but I think we’re playing well and the cohesion throughout the team is really coming in. We need to rely on a lot of guys, especially with this international break, but that’s the point of gaining this good group. There are a lot of good leaders in this locker room who have played in a lot of really high-level games, and we’ll need everyone for this Saturday.”
