After a historic snowfall postponed the Revolution’s original home opener on March 7, the squad returns to play this weekend against FC Cincinnati to open their 2026 home slate. The match will not only be the first in Foxborough this season, but also the Revolution’s first played on Gillette Stadium’s new grass surface. CURRENT FORM

New England Revolution
13th in Eastern Conference (0-2-0, 0 pts.)
Last Result | 1-0 loss at Red Bull New York

New England have dropped both results to start the 2026 season and are eager to find their first three points against FC Cincinnati in front of the home crowd at Gillette Stadium. After last weekend’s original home opener was postponed, the Revs are fresh-legged and ready to continue building under head coach Marko Mitrović. Scoring just one goal through two games – off the foot of Leo Campana – the Revolution will focus on finishing their opportunities in the attack.

With attacker Diego Fagundez returning home to Gillette Stadium after re-signing with the Revs this week, he could be the spark New England needs. Fifteen years after making his dream MLS debut in Foxborough, where he drew a penalty and scored a goal at just 16 years old, Revs fans will be eager to see whether he can recreate that magic. And with FC Cincinnati grinding through a demanding stretch of three matches in seven days, New England could take advantage of a visiting side stretched thin.

FC Cincinnati
7th in Eastern Conference (1-2-0, 3 pts.)
Last Result (MLS) | 1-0 loss vs. Toronto FC
Last Result (Champions Cup) | 3-0 win vs. Tigres UANL

After finishing second in last season’s Eastern Conference table, Cincinnati are off to a slower start in 2026, going 1-2-0 through their first three games of the season. Their 1-0 loss to Toronto FC last week was also their second consecutive scoreless loss in league play. While the Orange and Blue dominated Toronto in shots and possession, they ultimately couldn’t find the target, only putting two of their 15 shots on frame. However, with a 3-0 win over Tigres UANL in the Concacaf Champions Cup on Thursday night, FC Cincinnati could have some momentum heading into Foxborough.

After star midfielder Evander was injured in FC Cincinnati’s season opener against Atlanta United, he returned to play in the 74th minute against Toronto and saw about 30 minutes of play against Tigres. With Evander potentially gaining more minutes at Gillette Stadium, he could be eager to make a difference after spending time on the bench.

KEY PLAYERS

Revolution forward Dor Turgeman
Dor Turgeman has scored in every match he’s played at Gillette Stadium. After joining the Revolution late last season, he made an immediate impact with three goals in three appearances. In his home debut, he recorded both a goal and an assist, then followed that performance with another goal in his next outing at home. With a goal on Sunday, he would become just the fourth player in Revolution history to score in each of his first three home games.

With the Revs only finding the scoreboard once so far this season, Turgeman will be motivated to aid in the attack. Still looking for his first goal of 2026, being in front of the home crowd could be the boost he needs.

Cincinnati goalkeeper Roman Celentano
While Cincinnati have been inconsistent with results, goalkeeper Roman Celentano has been a consistent stronghold of their defense. So far this season Celentano has made 13 saves through three games, blocking six of Toronto’s shots last weekend. Last season, Celentano was similarly resolute in goal, allowing just 36 of Cincinnati’s 40 goals allowed.

In 2025, Celentano was honored with MLS Save of the Year, his second time earning the accolade. As the Revs seek to get on the scoreboard in front of the fans in Foxborough, they’ll have to get beyond a ‘keeper who blocked all on-target Revolution attempts against Cincinnati last season.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

Head coach Marko Mitrović on what he expects from FC Cincinnati:
“It’s another great opponent that is established and has their own style. Their certain style, they have played with for several years, they’ve changed certain personalities, but the way they play stays there. I would say that it’s a team that has a high physical presence, one of the most physical teams on the field. A team that has that directness in their game, a lot of winning second balls and creating second attacks from those opportunities. Obviously they were very successful in the last few years in the league and maybe they didn’t start the way they expected, three points from three games, but I watched their game yesterday against Tigres, they had a very strong performance.”

Assistant coach Michael Morris on his excitement for Sunday’s home opener at Gillette Stadium:
“I was actually walking through Boston Common the other day with my family, and it was almost this spiritual moment where I was like, ‘Boston is this beautiful, amazing city. I love this place, and I love that we are in a club that gets to represent this place.’ This will actually be my first touchpoint with the fans on a brand-new surface that we are building. So hopefully we can put on a positive performance and start to build a connection with our fans and build a connection with this city. One of the things that was really attractive about this, when Marko [Mitrović] proposed this opportunity, was that Boston is a city with a long history of winning in sports. So, I know I want to be a part of that and be able to create some of that history.”

Midfielder Carles Gil on what he’s hoping to see more of in the attack:
“Create more chances and more of everything. We trained during the preseason on many things with the ball, the buildup, and also in the last third. We didn’t show that in the first two games. I think we also need a little more confidence in ourselves. What gives confidence to everyone is winning, scoring goals, and everything with the ball. It’s coming, for sure. We need our first win, and hopefully it can be on Sunday.”
