CURRENT FORM

New England Revolution
11th in Eastern Conference (6-5-5, 23 pts.)

Last Result | 1-0 loss vs. FC Cincinnati

New England relinquished a nine-game unbeaten streak to Cincinnati their last time out, limited by injuries to several key attacking players in a 1-0 loss. Halfway through the season, the Revs now take on the same team they started their 2025 campaign against back on February 22. Playing to a 0-0 draw with Nashville SC in the season opener at GEODIS Park, Wednesday’s match will be a good measuring stick to see how much the two teams have developed since game one.

Returning from a mandatory five-day break in accordance with the CBA, New England players and staff have had the chance to rest and recover, coming off their first loss in 10 games. While a break in the schedule can be helpful, especially when dealing with a handful of injuries, it can also disrupt rhythm. The Revs will need to come back refreshed and refocused if they want to take down a high-flying Nashville side at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday night.

Nashville SC
3rd in Eastern Conference (9-4-5, 32 pts.)

Last Result | 2-0 win at Chicago Fire FC

Nashville hasn’t lost a game since April 19, shortly afterwards kicking off a lengthy unbeaten run with a dominant 7-2 victory over Chicago. They’ve now gone nine games unbeaten in the league (5-0-4) and 11 games unbeaten in all competitions (7-0-4), scoring a whopping 24 goals during that stretch. Most of those goals have been created by Nashville’s two attacking DPs, Hany Mukhtar and Sam Surridge, who each have 15 goal contributions on the season.

While their overall form has been impressive, Nashville have been especially dominant at home. Their road record of 3-3-2 is solid, but it’s worth noting that three of their four losses have come away from home. Under the lights at Gillette Stadium, they’ll be challenged to extend their unbeaten streak, as they take on a New England side coming off their first loss in nine games.

KEY PLAYERS

Revolution defender Mamadou Fofana
As New England look to slow Nashville’s potent attacking duo of Sam Surridge and Hany Mukhtar, Fofana and the back line will be a critical element for the Revolution on Wednesday night.

Fofana leads the team in several defensive stats, winning 29 aerial duels and completing 34 clearances so far this season. His dependability on defense extends beyond shutting down threats, and he is also a key contributor to New England’s counterattacks. Fofana has helped the Revs in transition, boasting a team-leading 91 percent accurate pass completion.

Nashville SC midfielder Hany Mukhtar
Hany Mukhtar has tallied 15 total goal contributions for Nashville SC this season – eight goals and seven assists – tying him with teammate Sam Surridge for the second-most in MLS. The two trail behind only Lionel Messi, which says a lot about how influential the duo are for Nashville.

Through 18 games, Mukhtar has been central to the team’s success, directly contributing to nearly half of Nashville’s 32 goals. His consistent performances have consistently kept him in MLS MVP conversations all season. With 39 shots on target, the attacking midfielder remains a constant threat, which will test the resolve of New England’s staunch defense.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

Head coach Caleb Porter on adjusting to how visiting teams play at Gillette Stadium:
“I think we can be better at home. We’ve taken some big wins, but it needs to be more consistent. Obviously, our last two [home] games we didn’t score a goal – 0-0 [vs. San Jose] and a 1-0 loss [to FC Cincinnati]. Cincinnati’s a very good team. We had enough moments in positions to score, so that’s the positive. We’ve shown the team the film on that. Really, it’s about just getting the cross right and the run right. It’s those two things. We feel like, if we improve in the final third, that’s probably the final piece to us going from a good team to a great team and from a team that’s hovering around the playoff line to a contender.”

Porter on the status of Leo Campana and Luca Langoni:
“They [Campana and Langoni] will be available for the match, both of them. But yes, we do have to ease them back in. Luca has been out quite a long time, and Campana’s loads haven’t been all that high, so they’re both limited minutes for this game. But it’ll be great because they’ll be able to come off the bench and help us.”

Midfielder Alhassan Yusuf on playing Nashville for the second time this season, after facing them in season opener:
“It’s going to be a different game, because the first game you play is the beginning of the season. There are so many things that you didn’t know about, but then you can see video and film, and try to see what you can do for better results.”
