CURRENT FORM

New England Revolution
4th in Eastern Conference (7-3-6, 27 pts.)
Last Result | 0-0 draw at New York City FC

A hectic recent stretch saw the Revs play to three draws in the span of eight days, beginning with back-to-back 3-3 ties against Chicago Fire FC and Atlanta United FC before rounding out the week with a 0-0 stalemate at New York City FC. Djordje Petrović put together an MLS Team of the Matchday performance at Yankee Stadium to keep his sixth clean sheet of the year, while Carles Gil scored twice in Atlanta to claim MLS Player of the Matchday honors.

Winless in five (0-2-3), the Revs will finally return to Gillette Stadium this weekend to begin a three-game homestand, having played five of their last six games on the road since the beginning of May.

Inter Miami CF
15th in Eastern Conference (5-11-0, 15 pts.)
Last Result (MLS) | 2-1 loss vs. D.C. United
Last Result (Open Cup) | 1-0 win at Birmingham Legion FC

When they claimed a 2-1 victory over the Revs on May 13, Inter Miami had won three straight and appeared to be on the rise in the Eastern Conference. But in the four weeks since, they’ve lost five straight games and ultimately parted ways with head coach Phil Neville, appointing assistant coach Javier Morales on an interim basis.

Miami’s struggles have been particularly stark on the road, as they’re 1-6-0 on their travels, scoring just three goals in those seven road games and being shut out five times. Inter Miami did, however, go on the road to claim a 1-0 win over USL Championship side Birmingham Legion FC on Wednesday night, advancing to the U.S. Open Cup semifinals for the first time in club history.

KEY PLAYERS

Revolution midfielder Matt Polster
In search of their first win since May 6, the Revs will be eyeing this three-game homestand as an opportunity to get themselves firmly on track heading into the summer months. As they welcome a last-place Miami team to Foxborough, they’ll be looking to dictate the tempo and spend a healthy dose of the game on the front foot.

One player who could be key in that objective is central midfielder Matt Polster, who often serves as the fulcrum connecting defense and attack. Polster is one of the Revolution’s minutes leaders this season, having started 15 of the club’s first 16 games, and he’ll likely be in the middle of the park once again on Saturday night.

Inter Miami defender DeAndre Yedlin
Miami has scored just 15 goals through 16 games, making them one of eight teams leaguewide to average less than one goal per game. When they’ve found goals, they’ve largely come through Leonardo Campana and Josef Martinez, but Miami have struggled to find a playmaker.

Much of Miami’s attack has come down the right side through DeAndre Yedlin, who is one of just two players on the roster – along with the injured Jean Mota – with multiple assists on the season. One of Yedlin’s three assists came on May 13, when the USMNT defender provided a secondary assist on Martinez’s game winner.

STATUS REPORT

Revolution
Six players remain unavailable for the Revolution heading into the weekend: Dylan Borrero (ACL surgery), Nacho Gil (right leg), Henry Kessler (hamstring surgery), Maciel (left Achilles), Tommy McNamara (left leg), and Damian Rivera (Costa Rica Under-23 National Team).

Noel Buck (left leg) is listed as questionable after he was held out of last weekend’s draw with NYCFC, while Brandon Bye is also questionable having missed the last three games with a left shoulder injury.

Gustavo Bou, who had played just 21 minutes since mid-April while dealing with injury, returned with a 15-minute substitute appearance last weekend at Yankee Stadium.

“It’s a start,” sporting director and head coach Bruce Arena said of Bou’s return. “Hopefully, he can build on that.”

Inter Miami
Canadian international defender Kamal Miller will be unavailable on Saturday night, as the early season acquisition from CF Montréal will serve a one-game suspension after being sent off just seven minutes into last weekend’s loss to D.C. United.

Influential midfielders Gregore and Jean Mota will also be out this weekend while dealing with long-term injuries.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

New England Revolution assistant coach Dave van den Bergh
“It's been a little challenging with all these games, especially all these away games and midweek games. There’s not a whole lot of time to prepare, it's more like recovering and then seeing who's was healthy for the next one. It’s nice that we got to get some work in this week in Foxborough and on the practice field. Preparation has been good and then this coming week, just like every game in the MLS, is going to be a tough one especially now that they have a new coach. They have a big push from the [Lionel Messi] news yesterday, and then of course, we lost our game at [Inter] Miami. It's not going to be an easy game for us.”

New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrović
“It was a difficult period. The difficult period is behind us, not the best run. We had some difficult matches. Against Atlanta, it was really good offensive match, and against New York City is a really defensive match. So, we hope to play better in our next three games, and we hope to show some better results and to have the crowd supporting us also. So, let's see what happens.”
