CURRENT FORM

New England Revolution
13th in Eastern Conference (0-1-0, 0 pts.)
Last Result | 4-1 loss at Nashville SC

The Revs are back on the road for game two of the 2026 season, travelling to Sports Illustrated Stadium, which historically has not been easy for them. With a 12-29-11 record as the visiting side in New Jersey, the Revs will be put to the test against Red Bull New York. However, the Revs do maintain an edge in the overall series, leading the matchup 43-37-21 since their first-ever meeting in 1996.

Last weekend’s 4-1 loss at Nashville SC was a disappointing start, but the group continues to grow under new head coach Marko Mitrović. Saturday’s match will be only his second leading New England, and the confidence remains high amongst the squad. With key defensive pieces Mamadou Fofana and Brayan Ceballos available after missing the opener, the Revs arrive with a more complete squad, hungry for their first win of the season.

Red Bull New York
3rd in Eastern Conference (1-0-0, 3 pts.)
Last Result | 2-1 win at Orlando City SC

Red Bull earned their first three points of the season and first victory under head coach Michael Bradley last weekend with a 2-1 win at Orlando City. Red Bull scored both goals in the first half, with 17-year-old Julian Hall finding the net in the eighth minute and again in the 40th minute of the match. The young forward was one of three players under 18 years of age in the starting lineup for New York, making them the first team in MLS history to have so many young players start a match.

Red Bull stayed strong defensively for most of the match, but conceded in stoppage time to allow an Orlando goal. Last season, Red Bull missed the playoffs for the first time in 16 years after finishing 10th in the Eastern Conference. With a split in this series last season, and both Bradley and Mitrović entering just their second matches in charge, Saturday’s clash in New Jersey sets up as an intriguing early season test for both sides.

KEY PLAYERS

Revolution defender Mamadou Fofana
Mamadou Fofana returned to Foxborough this week after spending time in France finalizing his green card and is now available to reinforce the Revolution’s backline against RBNY.  His absence, paired with fellow center back Brayan Ceballos who was out due to injury, left the Revolution defense without a lot of depth to start the season. Fofana’s return adds more stability and could provide a defensive boost for the Revolution on Saturday.

The game in New Jersey could mark Fofana’s first of 2026, and first MLS regular season game under Mitrović. With new faces joining him, Fofana starts his second season with the Revolution looking to make an impact.

Red Bull forward Julian Hall
17-year-old attacker Julian Hall bagged a brace in Red Bull’s season-opening match last weekend, making him their only goalscorer of the year so far. Hall has now started five total games with Red Bull’s first team, after signing in 2023 as a Homegrown Player.

Coming off a statement performance to start the season, which earned him the league’s Player of the Matchday title, Hall’s newfound momentum could pose an attacking threat back on his home turf at Sports Illustrated Stadium.

HEAR FROM THE REVS

Head coach Marko Mitrović on what he expects from Red Bull New York on Saturday:
“It’s a young group of players, but very determined. They play with very high intensity, very direct in terms of advancing the ball forward and finishing the attack. Also, they’re on the front foot when they defend. I think they play a game that is very intense from the very beginning until the very end. Against Orlando, they sustained the intensity throughout the whole game. We have to be ready to match that intensity from the very beginning until the very end, and to try to go above that.”

Mitrović on how the team is building on last weekend's match at Nashville SC:
“When I came here, I said one thing: we go day-by-day, and we want to take the most out of every day. We still have to grow as a team. Nashville was a good reference for us because that’s one very good team, to compete with the best teams in the league, what we have to do and what direction we have to go. There are references between our opponents but also references for ourselves and how we can be better, day by day, as a team. All of us, not just the players, the coaching staff and everyone else, the whole club, how can we grow day by day.”

Defender Mamadou Fofana on what it has been like playing under head coach Marko Mitrović:
“I think he is important to us because he is really close to us. He gives us [direction on] what we have to do, and he talks a lot. This is good for our confidence. Now, we just have to work and stay together, and everything will be good.”
