CURRENT FORM
New England Revolution
2nd in Eastern Conference (7-3-1, 22 pts.)
Last Result | 2-1 win vs. Philadelphia Union
The Revolution head into Wednesday night riding a seven-game unbeaten streak. Of those seven games, five have been at home, where the Revs have had a record-breaking 6-0-0 start to the season. The Revs have found their success on both sides of the ball, owning the second-best goal differential in the East (+7). With 20 goals for and 13 against, they sit just below Nashville in the Eastern Conference stats.
Wednesday will be the second time New England and Nashville meet this season, after the Revs took a 4-1 loss at GEODIS Park on opening day. With momentum now under their belts, the Revs will have an extra push as they try and make up for the early-season setback.
Nashville SC
1st in Eastern Conference (7-1-3, 24 pts.)
Last Result | 2-2 draw vs. D.C. United
Nashville have been a dominant team in the East since the start of the 2026 season, working their way to the top of the table. The Music City side sits just two points above the Revolution, holding a narrow edge as they visit Foxborough. They’ve found success both home and away this season, but have been more consistent at GEODIS Park, where they have yet to lose a game. On the road, Nashville have still been solid, going 3-1-2 away from home.
Nashville arrive at Gillette Stadium as one of the best defensive teams in the league, conceding just eight goals through 11 games. While they have the upper hand against New England so far this season, they arrive in Foxborough to face a Revolution side that looks very different from the one they met back in February.
KEY PLAYERS
Revolution defender Mamadou Fofana
After earning his third spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday this season following his defensive performance against the Philadelphia Union, Mamadou Fofana is only expected to get stronger for the Revolution. The Malian defender’s goal line clearance last week kept the Revs in the game and kicked off the play that would ultimately lead toward their first of two goals against the Union.
Fofana is currently tied for second leaguewide with 35 clearances and has a spot on the scoresheet with one goal this season. The center back has played all 90 minutes in each of his 10 appearances for the Revs this season, kicking off his second season with the team with a clear sense of confidence.
Nashville forward Sam Surridge
After being a fierce competitor for the MLS Golden Boot last season with 24 goals, Sam Surridge is off to the races again this year. The attacker is currently tied for third among the league’s leading goalscorers, with nine goals in his seven games played.
Last time out against the Revolution, the Englishman bagged a brace to help carry Nashville to victory. He currently leads the team in goal contributions, has put 15 shots on target, and has a team-leading 5.56 xG. As the Revs look to extend their perfect home form, Surridge will be one to watch as he looks to foil their unbeaten run.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
Head coach Marko Mitrović on if New England approach Wednesday’s match against Nashville SC as an opportunity to make a statement:
“I don't think about statements, to be honest. It’s another game for us in terms of having a great opportunity to see where we are right now, comparing with Nashville, because we played the first game of the season [at Nashville]. Nashville is definitely one of the best teams in the league in terms of everything – in terms of player selection that they have, in terms of coaching. And no matter what, whenever you face Nashville, it's one of the highest challenges every team in this league can have. So, we are looking at that game just from that perspective. Not in terms of standings or statements.”
Defender Ethan Kohler on Wednesday’s matchup against the Eastern Conference leader:
“It’s a super important game because it’s the next game in front of us. The occasion of them being first always adds a little bit of extra pressure. With this group, we’re focusing on what we can do. We know that us as a group, if we’re firing on all cylinders, we’re good and we can go against anybody. I think the focus this week, obviously tactically you look at Nashville. But we know that if we do what we can do, then against any opponent, it doesn’t matter who’s in front of us, we know we can win.”
Kohler on how Marko Mitrović helps motivate and inspire players:
“I mean, Marko is a guy who speaks with purpose. What helps his words carry so strongly among the group is that if he says something, he means it. If he’s going to ask something of us, he’ll do it himself. When he speaks at halftime, and you feel the fire, you feel that passion and desire from him. If he could take one of our places and get on the field to do everything he could to win the game, he would. When we go in at halftime, and you feel that from him, as players you can do nothing but give everything in that second half.”
