SMITHFIELD, R.I. (August 16, 2026) – New England Revolution II (11‑5‑6; 42 pts.) fell to Eastern Conference rival Philadelphia Union II (9-10-4; 33 pts.), 4-3, on Sunday night at Bryant University’s Beirne Stadium. Tonight’s back-and-forth affair was highlighted by a goal-and-assist performance from Homegrown midfielder Cristiano Oliveira, the first of his professional career. Forward/winger Myles Morgan netted his team-high 11th goal of the season, while defender Gabe Dahlin added his second of the campaign.

Philadelphia took the lead 10 minutes into the contest, capitalizing on a corner kick moments after goalkeeper Max Weinstein produced back-to-back saves. On the first chance of the match, Weinstein made a quick-reaction stop to deny a volley headed toward the near post. The Academy graduate then came up with another key save on the rebound, punching the follow-up effort over the crossbar. However, the visitors converted on the ensuing corner kick, as Jordan Griffin headed home the opening goal.

Revolution II wasted no time finding the equalizer, scoring five minutes later. Academy forward Matthew Jean Baptiste forced a turnover to spark the attack, leading to a sequence built entirely through Academy products. Midfielder Logan Azar found forward/winger Makai Wells on the left flank, and Wells, who signed to an MLS NEXT Pro contract last weekend, delivered a low cross to Morgan. The Canada native redirected the one‑touch finish for his fourth goal in three matches. Wells earned his first professional assist, while Azar, a 2026 MLS NEXT All-Star, collected his second of the season.

Union II regained the lead in the 27th minute through Kellan LeBlanc, who chipped his effort into the top‑left corner. After Revolution II were reduced to 10 men with Wells receiving a second yellow card in second‑half stoppage time, New England found a late equalizer through Oliveira. Academy defender Aarin Prajapati initiated the play with a line‑splitting pass to fellow Academy product Levi Katsell, who lofted a cross to Oliveira for a diving‑header finish. Prajapati recorded his second assist in as many matches, while Katsell registered his first professional helper. However, the visitors reclaimed the advantage just before intermission, with LeBlanc bagging a brace.

New England leveled the match for a third time in the 66th minute. Oliveira, a Somerville, Mass. native, slipped a pass to Dahlin, who shifted the ball to his right foot and fired a long‑range strike into the right‑side netting. The Swedish defender tallied his second goal in his last four matches, while Oliveira tied Carlos Zambrano for the team lead in assists this season, with his sixth. Oliveira also finished with a career‑high 10 shot attempts and four shots on target, while Morgan posted a career‑best nine shots, including five on frame.

Revolution II generated another chance in the 82nd minute, when midfielder Javaun Mussenden, returning from international duty with the United States Under‑19 National Team, was fouled in the box. Morgan stepped to the spot, but his penalty attempt was denied by Philadelphia’s goalkeeper. Moments later, Union II striker Stas Korzeniowski capped the scoring in the 84th minute to secure all three points for the visitors.

Revolution II embark on a two-match week, starting with a road contest at Inter Miami CF II on Wednesday, August 19. The 7:00 p.m. ET kickoff from Inter Miami CF Stadium will stream live on MLSNEXTPro.com and the OneFootball platform.
