Here at the New England Revolution, we know that Matt Turner is one of the best goalkeepers in Major League Soccer. Now, with his second consecutive spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi, it’s clear that the rest of the league agrees. After a nine‑save performance to match his career high against Inter Miami CF on Saturday night, Turner was named the top ‘keeper of Matchday 10 after also claiming the honor on Matchday 9.
“For me, Matt is the best goalkeeper in the league. The status that Matt has, we expect Matt to deliver. I don’t think that’s something that is unknown to Matt or puts a different pressure on him. I strongly believe that Matt understands what we expect from him,” head coach Marko Mitrović said prior to match at Miami. “When you have such a high-profile goalkeeper, you expect him to prevent goal-scoring opportunities. Matt is doing what he has to do, and he’s doing that at a high level. I really appreciate Matt as a person and as a goalkeeper. When I came to New England, I was really happy that I would have the opportunity to work with him again.”
Last week, Turner made a total of 17 saves across New England’s midweek contest at Atlanta United and the weekend’s duel in Miami. With his recent outings, Turner has collected 46 saves this season – the third-highest count in the league. He’s been a wall in the net, helping the Revs rise to fourth in the Eastern Conference standings as they carry a five-game unbeaten streak.
New England have built a clear identity this season as one of the East’s most balanced teams. Through nine matches, they’ve scored 17 goals while conceding just 12 and still have a game in hand compared to most of the league.
While Turner’s heroics helped secured a crucial point in Saturday’s 1‑1 draw at Nu Stadium, Carles Gil once again shaped the match on the attacking end. His 56th-minute strike opened the scoring and earned him a spot on the Matchday 10 bench alongside the week’s Best XI. Gil now sits just behind Luca Langoni in total goal contributions for the Revolution, with two goals and three assists in nine appearances.

With at least six matches in the next four weeks, the schedule will continue to be relentless, but the Revs carry real momentum, fueled by leaders like Turner and Gil who continue to elevate the squad.
With a quick turnaround from the weekend, New England will host Orlando City SC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 on Wednesday, April 29 at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island (7:30 p.m. ET) before returning to regular season play on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium as the Revs look to extend their perfect home form (4-0-0) against Charlotte FC on May 2.
