Team of the Week

MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi | Petrović (career-best 10 saves) stars in midweek win

New England Revolution goalkeeper Djordje Petrović will be among the league's best next week when the MLS All-Stars take on Arsenal at Audi Field, and the 23-year-old shot-stopper reminded everyone exactly why on Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium, standing on his head in the Revolution's 2-1 win over Atlanta United to claim a spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi.

Petrović made a career-best 10 saves as the Revs limited the high-powered Atlanta attack to a late consolation goal, becoming the first Revolution goalkeeper to record double-digit saves since Preston Burpo more than 13 years ago.

The evening featured several highlight-reel stops, but the best arrived in the 72nd minute when Petrović showed lightning-quick reflexes to push away a point-blank header from Juan Purata and maintain what was a 2-0 lead at the time.

Carles Gil, who will join Petrović at the MLS All-Star Game next week, also earned a spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday bench after notching his league-best 10th assist of the season with a sublime through ball to spring Giacomo Vrioni for New England's second. Gil, who led the Revs in chances created (5), dribbles completed (5), and duels won (7) on Wednesday night, is now the first player in Revolution history to record four seasons of 10 or more assists.

The Revs (11-4-7, 40 pts.) will be back in action once again on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium, where they'll look to maintain their unbeaten home record (8-0-3) against visiting D.C. United. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, with coverage available in English and Spanish on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. The local radio call will also be available in English on 98.5 The Sports Hub, and in Portuguese on 1260 AM Nossa Radio.
