International Roundup | Six players repped countries between Revs and Revs II

Allan Oyirwoth Uganda action

We’re now officially one year out from the 2026 FIFA World Cup on American soil – including seven games in Foxborough – and the countdown is heating up. As national teams continue to prepare and fight for qualification, four New England Revolution players and two Revolution II players received call-ups to represent their countries during the June international window.

Strikers Leo Campana and Ignatius Ganago both received international call-ups – Campana for Ecuador and Ganago for Cameroon. Revs midfielder Allan Oyirwoth was selected to represent Uganda, while 17-year-old Peyton Miller joined the U.S. Under-20 squad for a pair of friendlies as they prepare for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Oyirwoth, 18, earned his third call to Uganda’s senior national team, starting and playing the full 90 minutes in both of the Cranes’ CAF qualifiers. Uganda fell 3-1 to Cameroon, but bounced back with a 1-1 draw against Gambia, leaving them third in Group G.

While Ganago didn’t feature in Cameroon’s fixtures due to an injury sustained in training with his native country, he did reunite with teammate Oyirwoth after Cameroon faced Uganda in Marrakech, Morocco. Cameroon is currently ranked second in Group D of CAF as they continue to eye qualification for the 2026 tournament.

Campana, sidelined for the Revolution’s last three games due to injury, joined Ecuador for June camp, but similar to Ganago, was released after Ecuador’s first match to continue his rehab in New England. On a welcomed note, Ecuador officially booked a spot for 2026, as a 0-0 draw with Peru earned them a ticket to the World Cup.

For Miller and the United States Under-20s, a spot in the upcoming 2025 World Cup has already been secured. In preparation for the world stage, Miller was called up to help the U.S. in a pair of friendlies in Cairo, Egypt. The Revolution wingback was the youngest player on June’s international training camp squad, as he joined the team for his second U-20 call-up. Miller logged 45 minutes in the second half of their first match, a 1-0 loss to Norway, and started the second match against Colombia, helping the U.S. secure a 1-0 win in his 70 minutes on the pitch.

With both Ganago and Campana questionable ahead of FC Cincinnati’s visit to Gillette Stadium on Saturday night, head coach Caleb Porter spoke on how the Revolution manage playing time of the returning players.

“There are a lot of moving parts, but we always focus on the principles of play and our habits and the concepts that relate to our style of play,” he explained. “We look at the minutes they played. We don’t have too many guys [who played] honestly. Allan [Oyirwoth] is the only guy that has actually played, and Peyton Miller. We’ll look at those two guys’ loads, but they’re young, so it shouldn’t impact anything.”

On the Revolution II side, goalkeeper JD Gunn and forward Liam Butts also made the roster for their respective countries in June.

As Panama continues the qualification quest, Gunn remained on the bench while the CONCACAF side secured a 2-0 win over Belize and a 3-0 win over Nicaragua. Butts made his national team debut for Guyana, clocking a total of 49 minutes across a 3-0 win against Montserrat and a 1-0 loss to Nicaragua.

While players fulfilled their international duties, New England took a bye weekend, returning to the training ground this week with all eyes on Saturday’s clash against Cincinnati. The match will kick off a three-game homestand in June, following a road-heavy start to the season for the Revolution.
