FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) and the Copa America Centenario Local Organizing Committee announced today that Gillette Stadium is one of 10 venues that have been selected to host matches during the 2016 Copa America. The tournament, which will celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the South American Football Championship, will be held in the United States for the first time with matches scheduled to take place June 3-26.
All 10 teams from CONMEBOL will participate in the competition, as will six nations from CONCACAF. Costa Rica, Jamaica, Mexico and the United States have already qualified for the competition. The final two berths will be determined on Jan. 8, 2016 in Panama City when Trinidad & Tobago face Haiti and Panama takes on Cuba, with the two winners advancing to Copa America.

The 2016 Copa America will add to the already impressive list of soccer matches to be held at Gillette Stadium since it opened in 2002. In addition to international friendlies such as the one between the U.S. National Team and Brazil in September, the venue has also hosted matches at the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup, FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2015 as well as the 2002 MLS Cup and all New England Revolution home games.
CONCACAF and CONMEBOL have partnered for the historic 2016 Copa America tournament, setting a new standard for inter-confederation cooperation in the Americas and worldwide.
