Forward Femi Hollinger-Janzen Selected by Minnesota United FC in MLS Expansion Draft

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution forward Femi Hollinger-Janzen was selected by Minnesota United FC with the 10th and final pick in the 2016 MLS Expansion Draft on Tuesday. Hollinger-Janzen will join the expansion franchise after one season with the Revolution. 


Hollinger-Janzen, 22, appeared in 19 games, starting one, in his rookie season with the Revolution after joining the team as a third-round selection (51st overall) in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. The Cotonou, Benin native scored two goals, including one game winner, and added one assist in his debut campaign. He played collegiately in his home state at Indiana University, where he tallied 22 goals and eight assists in 88 games.

The next phases of the offseason calendar are the Waiver Draft on Thursday, Dec. 15 and the Re-Entry Draft, with Stage One set for Friday, Dec. 16 and Stage Two taking place on Thursday, Dec. 22. Per Major League soccer rules, clubs have until Wednesday, Dec. 14 to re-sign any re-entry draft eligible players, including players whose options were not exercised.
