SARASOTA, Fla. – For New England Revolution winger Luca Langoni, this preseason feels a bit different than preseasons past. In fact, life itself has been forever changed for him and his wife, Augustina, as they recently welcomed their first child just one month ago.
“It was indescribable. It was a beautiful moment, something that I’ve never felt in my life. For me, it was the best moment of my life,” Langoni said of meeting his daughter, Amelia, for the first time.
It’s the kind of milestone that puts the sacrifices of an athlete’s lifestyle in perspective, with Langoni having to depart for preseason in Florida only weeks after Amelia arrived. Missing these early moments would be a challenge for any parent, but he says the experience has only sharpened his motivation. With an even greater sense of purpose, Langoni is looking forward to the year ahead.
“It’s different now. It’s motivation for me. We feel really happy, my wife and I. We’re just enjoying it,” he said. “I video call them every chance I get, so I’m able to see them. But it’s been great.”

Luckily for Langoni, the Revolution locker room is full of seasoned parents. The 23-year-old Argentinian said Amelia has already received visits from some Revolution dads: Matt Polster, Matt Turner, and Carles Gil.
Langoni, who had a soft launch into parenthood last year when he and his wife brought home a golden retriever puppy, said the support from his teammates has meant a lot.
“I am so appreciative of them. They’ve all told me to just enjoy it, and make sure I get some sleep, too,” Langoni laughed. “It’s been great. They’ve just told me that it is a great experience and to enjoy it all to the max.”
Just as Amelia has her own fan club inside the locker room, she’s already becoming a fan herself. Langoni said she has a growing collection of Revolution gear, and will be fully decked out for the first home match at Gillette Stadium on March 7.
While life is expanding off the pitch, plenty is changing on it, as well. With Marko Mitrović taking over alongside several new coaches, Langoni enters the 2026 season with excitement coming from every direction.
As an attacking player eager to elevate his impact, he already feels aligned with Mitrović’s aggressive, high‑intensity approach.
“I’ve been really happy to start this preseason with the new coaching staff. I’m feeling really good. Marko tells me all the time about intensity, and attacking spaces often,” he explained. “I feel really good about working with him and having his support and having the support of the rest of the coaching staff.”
Balancing a new system, new expectations, and new fatherhood could easily overwhelm someone in his position. Instead, Langoni seems energized – grounded by purpose and eager for growth.
“I want to improve in every way I can,” he said. “I want to be more intense, help more on the defensive end. On the attack, I want to score more goals and give more assists.”
Langoni hopes that one day Amelia will want to kick the ball alongside him, though he said she’ll have the freedom to choose her own path. For now, he is focused on making a meaningful impact this season, in hopes that 2026 will be unforgettable for more reason than one.
